This is probably the best free screen capture software around, and the first free application I downloaded. That was way back in 2007, when I got the opportunity to do my first review. Before I was associated with JAMM even.
The reason I bring it to your attention, is that it’s had a long awaited update, to bring it up to speed for WinMo 6.5, but the benefits of that can be shared by all current WinMo users.
It’s not often you’ll see a screenshot of a screenshot, opened on a device, but that is the quality of the images that this application captures. The most impressive thing in the update is that files ow are saved as .png, which really reduces the memory footprint of the application. Previously, the app would only save bitmap files.
It’s a very simple application with very few options, which makes it hard to get wrong.
It also takes up very little space on your device,
One of the best decisions I ever made here at JAMM was asking Thomas Wong (affectionately referred to as that crazy Canadian or just Ragart) to join the team. He has a fantastic sense of humor (or humour as he would spell) and really brings a great deal of levity and plain old fun to the team. In addition, we can always count on Thomas for insightful and creative approaches to even the most basic reviews.
Since I have known Thomas, he has completely transitioned to the Dark Side of mobility. Switching from a Windows Mobile phone to an iPhone, and a netbook to a Macbook.
I have really enjoyed having Thomas around, and I hope you all have enjoyed his many posts here at JAMM. Please join me in wishing Thomas a very Happy Birthday (he turns 12 today, or so his picture would suggest).

Why can't you two just get along?!
I love my Vibe II’s. I got a review sample directly from V-Moda earlier this year and I loved them. Then my cat ate them for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner and there was nothing left to love, so I went out two days later and bought another pair at full price because I thought they sounded that good. That was at the end of April. I got my iPhone 3GS just yesterday and my sheer delight turned to icky surprise (is that an emotion?) when I realized that the playback controls on my Vibe II’s weren’t responding correctly.
Every time I pressed on the button to pause a song, I’d end up going directly to voice control instead. In fact, the only way I can pause a song is to tap the button like a madman. A quick Google search showed me that I wasn’t alone in this. Apparently buyers of the Vibe Duos have also been having trouble, and a quick test with my Vibe Duos confirmed this. The official support e-mail from V-Moda says that there will be an upgrade/exchange policy later this summer with some updated version of Vibe II and Duo headphones, so I’d suggest that anybody who is even thinking about buying V-Moda gear wait until then.
I hope it doesn’t cost too much.

In-Call View:
8th of July, VITO Technology releases NEW FunContact 3x. The full screen dialer of FunContact 3x allows you to receive and make calls directly from its new and elegant interface. With FunContact 3x you can assign pictures to all your favorites and organize them as you like in the grid or list mode. Lets not forget the great advantage of FunContact 3x is the built-in functionality to add contact straight from it with no need of extra steps through the default Windows Mobile Interface.
Fun Contact 3x gives a whole new experience in managing your contacts with its new and exciting features:
- New User-friendly interface
- Categories support
- New Favorites with photos: grid and list
- Start calling or enter contact card from Favorites
- Call history editing: filter or delete
- Individual call history: filter or delete
- Full-screen Dialer
- Quick keypad contact search
- 3 skins available: Dark, Clear and Bright
New FunContact 3x is simple, straightforward and quick to use. With less tabs and more built-in functions it makes your contacts’ list more useful and fun. You can manage individual contacts grouping them in the editable categories, selecting and filtering individual call history and add pictures for your favorites.
Alongside with all these new functions FunContact 3x preserves unique features that none of the competitors have, for instance, you can edit and add new contact info straight in FunContact without going to standard WM interface.
The major upgrade is paid for all current users of FunContact and Communication Suite.
FunContact is available for $19.95 at http://vitotechnology.com/contact-manager.html.
I came across this post earlier over at Mobility Site. Apparently, Twitter user AdamZea posted the following on his Twitter feed:
![]()
Julie over at MobilitySite fired off, what I thought was, a very well reasoned response. Julie admits to carrying both a smartphone and a Microsoft Zune. And she offers three reasons for doing so:
- battery life
- syncing
- media management
I thought Julie’s post was dead on. Other than the iPhone (which began its life as a media player and evolved into a phone) smartphones simply do not offer the same media experience as a dedicated media player. In addition to the items Julie mentioned, I would also add quality of playback, the lack of memory in many phones, and the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack in many phones.
For me, convergence of devices has not worked out well. And I plan to continue carrying both a smartphone and media player, as well as a Kindle 2 and netbook. Each of which serves a different purpose in my arsenal of gadgets. How about you? What do you carry? And has the promise of one device to tame them all worked out for you?
