Free For All: Easy Contact
There are plenty of contact managers out there, most of them though concentrate on easy viewing/ access to your contacts.
Not many of them have a simplistic editing interface. So this small, good looking, finger friendly, free application seems like a bit of a must have!
Sometimes unsophiscated is the key, a lot of the feature packed paid apps forget what a user wants. A contact manager should easily let you manipulate your contacts without too many steps. Without too much learning, or option setting. Easy contact is just that, easy
It installs from a small .cab file to your device or storage card and works equally as well in both locations. From my observations, it appears to work as a contact shell, meaning it does not replicate your contact database to work with, but search’s for and access’s that database every time it starts up.
So you get this sort of progress bar every time you edit or make changes or start the app up. It’s sorta like being let know where you stand with what you’re trying to do. It also reminds you that you are changing an essential database on your windows mobile device.
What though is it that makes Easy Contact, really easy? The editing/menu interface, it’s really simple but it makes a lot of sense. It let’s you edit your contacts, in the least steps/clicks/taps possible.
I found this approach liberating, highlight any contact and select menu, and all of your major editing preferences are to hand.
What’s really nice about this application, it’s intuitive. It automatically added to my favourites all of my contacts that I contact regularly. Not only by phone, but by email as well.
It also allows for an alphabetical search, through a dropdown at the top right. It gives you access to your contacts, sim contacts, and recent call history. One nice package!
Why do I like this? It’s a fresh, although a revisit, look at doing contacts on windows mobile. There’s something special in taking a majorly over worked function of WinMo, and making it easy to use again.
You can download the app here, it’s well worth a look!!
