Our friends at Concrete Software have made a number of fantastic apps for Windows Mobile and the iPhone/iPod Touch (and I am told their apps for other platforms don’t suck so bad either, though I have never tried them.) So, I was pretty excited to give their latest game, Nintaii a try. Hit the jump to see what I really thought.
Saw this over on Wired and I just keep going “huh?” whenever I see it. It’s remarkable for two reasons:
- Wow, check out that video quality!
- Holy crap, the phone disappears mid-vid!
That sure is a nice place for the reviewer. There’s just one thing, though…
I had a serious Freudian slip this evening, I know I posted about a Kindle on Steroids the other day, and maybe that didn’t help. When I went to pull info together for this post I was searching for Kindle XL.
OK, passing on from my seniors moment, all of the DX action happened while I was tucked up in bed, and my introduction was a short email conversation amongst a few team members, and quite amusing really.
The major things you want to know are encapsulated in the video, but a short round up of features goes something like:
• 9.7-inch E-Ink screen (1200 x 824 with 16 shades of grey)
• 1/3 of an inch thick (10.4" x 7.2" x 0.38")
• 4GB Storage for 3,500 books (a bump from 1,500)
• Unspecified but "long" battery life
• Native PDF support through built-in reader
• Automatic landscape/portrait text rotation
• Line length adjustments (determine the width of text on the screen)
• Navigation buttons moved to right side of screen only
• EVDO (of course) for 60-second book transfers
The price though is what is the most detrimental part of this super size, it has been super sized as well. The DX will set you back a whopping $489, oops did I hear the sound of jaws hitting the floor? So hit the link for some internal JAMM Banter as this happened, and the full press release…

Our neighbors to the North should be very happy, because they will be getting their very own Pre. The Bell Mobility Network will be the exclusive carrier for the Palm Pre in Canada. The release is scheduled for the second half of 2009.
“Bell is excited to be only the second carrier in the world to announce the 3G Pre,” said Adel Bazerghi, senior vice president of Products for Bell Mobility. “With the unique user experience of the world’s first webOS phone, running on the country’s largest 3G network, we’re confident that Canadians will embrace Pre as the phone for their lives today.”
We now have two carriers in the fold. Who will be next?
Check out their full press release after the break.
I was going to call this possible series “Mobile Me” but I don’t want to be sued or destroyed or stuck by lightning.
I saw this owl over at Lifehacker a few days ago — it’s a pretty creative method for carrying earphones around. Unfortunately, It requires a little more DIY prowess than I currently possess as well as 100% more laser cutting technology than I own, so I guess I’ll have to stick to my little storage pouch for now.
It did get me thinking about how much thinking I do about my gear, though. Devices and accessories are becoming a lot more mainstream now that mobile technology is really embedding itself in our everyday lives, and how we carry and protect the gear we carry is a very personal and possibly interesting subject. I’ve done a fair number of case reviews since I started here at JAMM, but I haven’t really talked about the how’s and why’s of my mobile setup. I guess I’ll get started on that now, eh?
Let’s start with earphones.
