This is news that’s sure to make a ______. Woah, sorry, don’t know happened there. Must have slipped. Anyway, here are two new iPhone apps ready for your consumption.
SplashPhoto ($4.99)gives you another way of syncing and organizing your photos outside of iTunes and the proprietary Photos app. You can transfer photos from the desktop client or from online services like Flickr and Picasa. I didn’t see any mention of a wireless syncing feature, but I think this’d be killer if it was implemented. After all, SplashData are the makers of File Magic for the iPhone.
The other release is SplashNotes ($4.99), a note-taking up that can also function as a quasi GTD list. The notes you create can be set up under header titles and can also be synced with desktop software ($9.99 or free trial).
I don’t know about you folks, but I’ve been moving away from desktop syncing as much as I can. These apps are still very capable on their own, but I really enjoy the freedom of cloud computing and having my information and media accessible from any machine as long as it’s connected to the intertubes. However, for those of you who really value the security of syncing with a local machine, these Splash Apps might be for you.
Before we get to the exciting Listen To This finale, we have one more stop to make on the road to High Fidelity. Tonight, I want to take a quick look at the battery life and memory capacities of these players. Obviously, these are pretty important stats. Without good memory capacity, you will find yourself listening to the same song time and again. Without battery life…well, you are going to be one frustrated listener. So, let’s take a closer look.

Proporta is turning 13 on April 23. Yep, they’re a teenager. For those unfamiliar with Proporta, they design and manufacture all types of electronic accessories from cases to chargers and more. In honor of their birthday, they are offering their customers a 15% discount on all Proporta branded hardware. All you need to do is use the promotion code HIPHOORAY during checkout. This sale is for ONE DAY ONLY, so buy yourself a little present to celebrate.
To truly appreciate this possible feature you’re going to have to own an HDTV or an amazing monitor, since the 720p and 1080i are just too good for the likes of my 20” monitors (like mine, sigh) and regular old TV’s. However, if you’ve shelled out for an HD screen of some sort then it’ll become another reason for you to grab the next generation iPhone. It isn’t exactly clear to me if the feature is confirmed, but IntoMobile believes that Apple has made a new AV Cable for the iPhone that will allow full HD video-out. They also report that Apple is advising stores to clear out their stock to make way for the new high definition sheriff in town.
If this really happens, that little slab of metal and plastic we love so much is going to get a lot more play time at the TV! I’m definitely liking the idea of the iPhone as more of a multimedia centre that will work with more than just a small screen.

I’m pretty happy with IUGO Mobile’s iPhone games. They’re the makers of the Toy Bot Diaries, which featured good use of the accelerometer and touchscreen for iPhone platforming gaming. Zombie Attack! offered a fast-paced zombie tower defense experience. Then there was Shaky Summit, which had you scaling a mountain and using earthquakes to leave your opponents in the dust. I’ve also been playing around with Freeballin’ lately, and should have some thoughts on the pinball game real soon.
In any case, the real point of this post is to tell you that all of these titles are currently available for $0.99 each on the App Store until April 27, so get while the gettin’s good, folks!
