Zune HD

I wonder at times, what the big deal is about HD on a small screen. I mean like VGA was something great and worth calling home about when some devices could support it like the Dell Axim x51v, but HD for a hand held Zune? It sounds like even though you’ll get a very clear picture, who would want to watch a movie on that tiny, itsy, bitsy screen of a music player? It had better be just as large or a bit larger than your iPod Touch. I’d love to see a bit more screen on it when compared to the Zune 120 which was 0.25 inches smaller. According to Engadget, this photo may be the potentially upcoming Zune HD.

I remember when the Apple IIc came out with the tiny little monitor (I think it was 7.5 inches). That was so cool, and we all talked about how in the future we would watch TV on our wristwatch. Then, monitors grew, and I can stare at my monster LCD and do my computing. I suppose the microgadget is cool for some people, but to me, it seems kind of silly. Now this is not to say that I don’t watch some YouTube from my phone, but to actually use it for great entertainment value, it fails.
So what will it be, big or small? I guess it it convenient that we have many choices.

Mark, I tend to agree with you. I rarely watch video when I am mobile because I much prefer my 56 inch HDTV at home.
But there is still something about knowing that I could if I wanted to…:)

I travel quite and bit and I have to say that being able to watch video on my Zune is awesome. Listening to music is great for many things, but often I want more of a distraction. I am really excited to see what this upcoming Zune can do.

Plus, the ZuneHD is supposedly coming with an HDMI output. This means that you could watch video on a larger screen, in HD, something that neither the current Zunes and iPods can do.
