Updates, the Cross WinMo Users find the heaviest this Easter!

One thing that is self evident of late in the Windows Mobile community is the excitement about forthcoming updates to the OS. Although there is a huge amount of insecurity about whether a lot of those users will even be able to access the upgrade. There’s a device specification lower/lowest limit already defined for Windows Mobile 6.5, and Microsoft have already handballed the responsibility to the device manufacturers. That’s right in a sly move, Microsoft actually left it up to the OEM’s, mainly HTC, to alleviate the update drought!

So what is actually going to happen?  Click the jump to find out.

Who knows really, but recently over at FaceBook, as an off shoot of the Windows Mobile Fan page, there’s been a stirring, that’s delivered plenty of questions, and few if any answers!

Aaron Woodman, Director for Consumer Experiences for Windows Mobile, will be available the week of March 23rd to take questions on anything related to your consumer experiences with Windows phones. Post your questions below, and then check in a week and see the information we’ve accumulated.
Aaron may not be able to answer every question—and he won’t be giving away any deep trade secrets—but he has a wealth of fascinating knowledge to share on our favorite mobile phones.

In an incredible move over on the FaceBook Windows Mobile Fanpage, a Microsoft exec left himself open for random questioning, well the questions materialised, but the responses didn’t. Obviously, as most WinMo users are looking for updates, there are a lot of scathing comments regarding the situation of Windows Mobile, and even more disheartening, a whole heap of users praising Apple’s model, and update consistency with the iPhone OS.

Lets face it if Apple improved the functionality just a few points more and provided keyboard based device in an attractively designed form factor their share would jump in both the retail (and more importantly) the corporate market significantly. I am sure MS don’t want this as there would be an invasion into the desktop with iTunes that would cause significant damage to the Windows ecosystem. iTunes would be able to deliver system updates, become the default media player, spawn more use of non MS browser usage, affect the default home page for search..the list is endless. A keyboard device would also take significant share from Blackberry and surely that should be the target of MS

Go and sift through the posts and see if any of the suggestions are on your Windows Mobile wish list?
