Not long ago, I had the opportunity to check out the Peek email device. While I was not sure it warranted the mantle of Time Magazine’s Gadget of the Year, it is a pretty cool gadget for people who do not necessarily like gadgets. It is pretty much the opposite of the all-in-one converged devices which we normally cover here. Peek is the one-in-one device. email only.
Today, Peek launch the Peek Pronto, which is a software upgrade for the Peek. The new Pronto is significantly faster than the original Peek (now called Peek Classic). It also supports up to five email accounts, as well as unlimited text messaging. According to Peek, current Peek subscribers will be able to download the Pronto to their existing devices.
The new Peek Pronto is available now for $79.95. The Peek Classic will continue to be available for $49.95. The Classic is limited to two email accounts and will no longer be able to access text messaging. Monthly contracts will continue to cost $19.95.
For more information, check out the Peek Pronto at www.getpeek.com.
Well, it’s Tuesday again, and that means it’s contest day (in case you hadn’t noticed, dear readers, contests are being posted every other Tuesday!).
Today I’ve got some great prizes to give away, but they are exclusively for United States iPhone users this time around. Now, please don’t yell at me – I promise that the next contest will incorporate all of our readers.
The fine folks at Astraware are having a sale, but once again they’ve stepped up to the plate and have given me 3 copies of Astraware Sudoku for the iPhone to give away.
Hit the jump for more……….
Everyone loves to save money, and no one loves a good sale more than me. Both Astraware and Handmark are giving out more fun for less money.
Astraware – Starting today, Astraware Sudoku, Casino, Boardgames, and Casino are all available for $4.95 each. That’s a savings of $5 off the normal price of $9.95 The sale is running until midnight on March 31, so don’t miss out. That’s TWO titles for the price of one.
Speaking of two for one, that is exactly what is going on over at Handmark.
Handmark – At Handmark, Buy One Get One Free can be applied to any title site wide. All you need to do is enter the discount code “DEMAND” at checkout. The sale is going on now until March 29.
If you have been thinking about picking up a game or a new app, treat yourself now and save some extra dough.
Mediocrity, is not going to get you a foothold in the smart phone market! Relying on the reputation of a previous, market leading PDA, that was unglamorously discontinued, Dell have been rejected in their WinMo Phone efforts.
Whether it be, that they don’t have a design innovation powerpack, they can’t come up with anything that supercedes the current HTC designs for devices, maybe they have left their run a bit to late?
According to a January report by the Wall Street Journal, Dell was set to announce a customizable Windows Mobile smartphone that would be available with or without a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and would also be offered with Google’s Android Linux operating system. Dell representatives spent much of last year meeting with suppliers of phone components, phone software companies, and Asian phone manufacturers, the publication added.
I know there are plenty of Axim users out there that would like to see that excellence transferred to a converged device.
Dell probably shot themselves in the foot, when they discontinued the axim, at windows mobile 5, trying to recover now with a smart phone , that isn’t budget priced and top of the range available, will not do them any good.
Even if Dell release a WinMo phone, it would have to be phenomenal to out do the latest HTC devices.
The most of the news goes, " No Carriers are interested in subsidising a Dell device".
May be that Dell drove HTC in the past, but HTC has kept in touch with the mobile market, and have adapted appropriately.
Even though I would love a Dell Axim Phone, it seems they have missed the boat, there are major issues, to be dealt with. Price, and development?
Basically it seems like Dell have missed the boat, and where once they were market leaders, they took a hiatus, and lost their momentum. Will a Dell Smart Phone sell/ materialise?
At last there’s a way to use YouTube on WinMo and Symbian S60 devices, and although it’s data hungry, and there is a warning at installation, to save your hip pocket, if you don’t have an "all you can eat" data plan, don’t even go here!
The speed and ease of use, what I would describe as "intuitive", makes this an application for all WinMo devices, and you have to applaud Google for actually coming up with this. Although, I have to admit that any application that increases hits for them is value adding and lining Google’s pockets, this is another welcome, free app from Google, that again allows you to stick to just a Windows Mobile device whilst on the move.
