My Phone Client gets an Update!

myPhoneLogo_bigger1 If you’re like me. and have tried the Windows My Phone service out a little bit, but decided that it’s still a bit half baked, undercooked, to be a viable stand alone syncing service for your WinMo phone you probably didn’t set it to update automatically. Besides the fact that you are going to need an unlimited data plan, to support this function, there might be a few tricks that you are missing if you don’t manually sync regularly. One feature that a lot of people have missed is the fact that any updates to the phone side app, are notified, applied at the end of the syncing process.

Now this is not insider info, I noted a tweet this afternoon from @MSMyPhone, dropped the information, so I manually synced when I got home and Viola, an update to be sure. Not sure what it fixes exactly, and the only thing I could find about it at the MyPhone Blog or user forum was this mention,

The update fixes an issue with regards to syncing documents to the device.
Please install the update and everything would work fine.
Thanks

What Brandon said………!

Ok, one of our reviewers and site contributors, Brandon, worked his butt of to make an app for the iPhone. He’s had some very honest reviews over at GearDiary, JAiB and here at JAMM.  Unfortunately, some review websites think it’s ok to bribe them for a review. Hit the link to Brandon’s rant to find out the problems he’s running into. (*warning, contains warranted, gratuitous use of another term for cow manure*)

Here at JAMM, we NEVER charge for reviews – our team members do this in our own time as volunteers. We have a mix of enthusiasts, experts and mobile tech industry hybrids who just want to bring YOU, the reader, the latest, greatest news in the industry.  And industry bods, if you want something reviewing, let us know.

Review: Navigon 2000S GPS

When I first started driving, directions involved some notes scribbled on a piece of paper that included important tidbits like: ’Turn right at McDonald’s” and “Go 3 lights, and make a left.”.  In an era before everyone had cell phones, getting lost was a very probable and frustrating situation.  Then came one of the greatest Internet sites, Mapquest.  It gave you turn by turn directions, and a little map.  Now, there could still be problems if the exit names were wrong, and there were direction errors.  However, for those of us that have a habit of getting lost, this was a step in the right direction.  Finally, the best navigation device to date arrives as GPS.  I am saving the term ‘BEST’ for when we get a car that can drive itself like Kitt from Knight Rider.  Just say ‘Take me to work”, and off you go.  Until that time, GPS is a wonderful thing.  When I look at GPS, I am not worried about fancy things like mp3 and video players, I just want to get from point A to point B.  I gave the Navigon 2000S a test drive.  Read on to see how it fares in the Midwest.

Windows Mobile on Your iPhone, Part II: Concrete Software

IMG_0250 IMG_0263

Let’s continue our look at "comfort food” games for you Windows Mobile converts to the iPhone.  Last time, we looked at a number of games from Astraware.  Today, we are going to take a look at Concrete Software.  This is another company which I have worked with almost as long as I have been writing here at JAMM.  I reviewed quite a few of their offerings on Windows Mobile, and I was pretty excited to find two of their more unique games in the iTunes App Store.  Today, we will take a look at the iPhone versions of 3D Lawn Darts and 3D Constructo Combat.

Mrs. Gates Fights A₱₱£€ (Apple) Tyranny

sw_apple

In a continued effort to fight A₱₱£€, Melinda Gates has banned the use of iPhones and iPods in her household.

According to Gizmodo Mrs. Gates has said:

There are very few things that are on the banned list in our household. But iPods and iPhones are two things we don’t get for our kids.

Even though she claims that the iPhone is quite the temptation:

Every now and then I look at my friends and say ’Ooh, I wouldn’t mind having that iPhone’.

Gates

Don’t give in Mrs. Gates! One bite is all it takes and A₱₱£€ (Apple) will have your life and suck you into its narcissistic ways of iEverthing with iMacs, iTunes, iBooks, and Mobile Me. Stay true to the PC (People Connected) because no one person makes it alone..it’s not about me, it’s about all of us working together and fighting tyranny.
