iPhone + Apps = Rock’N'Roll!

After Doug’s post on a mobile pool cleaning solution that doesn’t work too well, I thought I’d lighten the mood for the weekend. Now there have been lot’s of applications for the iPhone that replicate real world sounds, and the most popular and inane have been those that emulate some rather unsavoury bodily functions. [Phew] The fact is though, the iPhone can synthesize any sound, with the right application, and I’m surprised that it took this long for it to be done, by a commercial band. UK Band the Mentalists, rocked out on iPhone and iPod, for your viewing pleasure

So it may not do your fave Led Zeppelin title justice, but it’s just naff enough to bring a smile to your face :) , Enjoy your weekend, and praise God it wasn’t a Neil Diamond cover ;)

We Have A Scum Sucking Scraper

If you are reading this post on Just Another Mobile Monday, then stop reading now and skip ahead to the next post…

How do you know when your website has made it to the big time?  well, one sign is that you make enough money on a regular basis for us all to quit our day jobs.  And some of you astute readers may notice that I am writing this at 11:00 at night…after spending all day at my day job.

The other sign that a site is getting big is that you start to get ripped off.  And here, I am talking about blog scraping.  What is scraping?  Well, here is how Wikipedia describes it:

Blog scraping is the process of scanning through a large number of blogs, usually daily, searching for and copying content. This process is conducted through automated software. The software and the individuals who run the software are sometimes referred to as blog scrapers.

Scraping is copying a blog that is not owned by the individual initiating the scraping process. If the material is copyrighted it is consideredcopyright infringement, unless there is a license relaxing the copyright. The scraped content is often used on spam blogs or splogs.

Lately, I have noticed at least one site in particular (which I will not name or link for obvious reasons) consistently reposting content from JAMM, in other words, scraping out content.  So, I wanted to take a minute to address that site directly, from here on JAMM.

All of the content on Just Another Mobile Monday is copyrighted, and remains the exclusive property of JAMM and its staff.  If you are reading this post anywhere other than Just Another Mobile Monday, then you are reading a post which was stolen from our site, and reposted without the express or implied consent of Just Another Mobile Monday, it editors, authors, or team members.  This is a direct infringement upon our copyright, and a blatant violation of the copyright laws of the United States, where JAMM is published.

What really bothers me here is that I know how hard our team works.  We give up time with our families, free time in front of the TV, and any other of myriad of activities in order to put this site together and bring you the consistently high quality which you have come to expect.  So, it really irks me to see someone put in absolutely no effort in order to benefit from the hard work of this team.

If you are reading this post on any site, other than www.justanothermobilemonday.com, then we implore you to accept nothing but the original  Hit the link to go back to JAMM and enjoy the best our team of dedicated writers has to offer about mobile technology.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled postings.

Quick Look: LaTosta laptop stand

Resized 45

I didn’t own a laptop until a few months ago when I bought the MSI Wind U100 that I am typing this review up on. Laptop keys are pretty different than most desktop keyboards, but one major difference is the lack of a tilt. I always tilt my desktop keyboard upwards — I find it more comfortable, and I don’t have to reach as far for the keys. The LaTosta helps bring that desktop level of comfort to pretty much every notebook on the market — and all it consists of is two identical pieces of stainless steel.

Station Break – The Rasmus

I’ve never had a favorite band and never thought I would have one. I appreciate many music genres and although Alternative Rock has been the top of my list for a few years now, I can still easily enjoy a nice rhythm by Akon, pour my heart out on a James Blunt, feel the heat of a Tiesto, or relax to an Andrea Bocelli song. I’m also pretty fond of English and French songs, which made it even harder to choose a favorite. That is until I discovered that The Rasmus are my favorite band.

I usually listen to music on iTunes on my computer while working, and when a great song catches me, I simply switch windows and mark it as a 5 star. A few weeks ago, while I was browsing through my collection, I noticed that every song from The Rasmus on my computer is marked as 5 star. Every single one. That opened my eyes to the fact that each of the 3 albums I have from them played on my stereo (back in the days) and mp3 players for a few months continuously.

Sudoku Grab for the iPhone.

Like playing sudoku? I do, but I’m not really great at it, I’ve spent many a Saturday afternoon dithering over where to put the 9 or the 4. But one clever chap has come up with an application for the iPhone that allows you to take a picture of a sudoku puzzle and the app will solve it for you. Sure, it’s kind of cheating, but it’s an interesting concept and quite frankly it would make me look really good in front of my friends on a Saturday afternoon! It’s available in the iTunes App Store for just 99 cents.
