I’m definitely late on this news, but better late than Windows Mobile (huh?). Instead of running Windows on platforms it wasn’t designed for, Ertan D. decided to run Google’s Android OS on his old Axim x51v…and it sorta, kinda works! He’s still lacking minor features like wi-fi and power management, but the touchscreen and buttons are mapped and working correctly. Check out Ertan’s sweet vimeo video below or visit his blog:

Clinton is on a roll with his reviews at the moment, and has just reviewed the Pantech Matrix Pro. It looks like it’s got wonderful battery life and a great camera as well as lots of other great things about it.
Aside from the USB connector, the Pantech Matrix Pro is a great Windows Mobile Standard phone. It is fast, easy to use and has a great display. The added bonus of having both a T9 and QWERTY keyboard built into the device makes it great for light users as well as heavy users. For those who do a lot of email and texting, you should not shy away from this one. The added bonus of great battery life makes this one a real keeper.
Clintons reviews are always well written and detailed, and he takes the time to point out both good and bad about a device. So hit the link below for a good read, and a quick heads up, Brandon, our own iPhone Guru/app developer is taking a look at the Pantech Matrix as we speak, so keep an eye out for an apple fanboy’s look at a Windows Mobile Dual Slider!

Everyone should know by now who PPCTechs are, but just in case you haven’t heard they are one of the leading companies in converged device repair. They’ve been around pretty much since the dawn of the PDA, and developed the process of upgrading RAM in Windows Mobile devices. They also do a great line in accessories, including the WriteSHIELD® Premium Screen Protector and their line of Lil’Sync® power accessories and cables.
A lot of companies don’t listen to what their customers want, but PPCTechs do. After receiving emails requesting a search feature so that you can search by item or part number (instead of just by unit), they’ve added just such a feature to their website and want to give you some goodies for trying it out!

I’m a bit oblivious to the rugged mobile phone market, and the only analogy I can think of to illustrate the difference between the consumer mobile phone, and the rugged outdoor industrial phone is soup. You know, you get the refined, blended, processed soup that your not sure exactly what’s in it, and the chunky version that has no secrets. Chunky soup, has large bits that you can identify, and like or dislike as is your want. Although it reveals all, it is substantial and comforting, reassuring if you will.
That which a rugged mobile phone attempts to be, no frills, but it is a device you can rely upon!
Motorola have released a pair of qwerty based, rugged, windows mobile devices this week that meet the bill, a familiar form factor from Moto, reminiscent of their earlier Q devices, with maybe a Humvee take on a handset!
I have no words for this one. Just watch the video and let us know what you think of Steve Wozniak’s efforts on Dancing With The Stars. Personally, while I applaud his courage, I think this looks almost exactly like what you would expect a middle-aged computer geek to look on a show like this. Not bad for the guy who created my first computer, the Apple II+.
