Will You Switch to Sprint for a Pre?
When the iPhone first arrived, AT&T saw quite the jump of subscribers since people couldn’t wait to get their hands on the new drool worthy device. The same thing happened again when iPhone 3G arrived on the scene. So, it got me wondering, will people be willing to jump aboard the Sprint train to be one of the first with the Palm Pre? Sprint has been averaging losing over a million subscribers every quarter. They really need to pull in new people. Personally, I am going to wait. First, the exclusive period for the Pre is 6 months. If it debuts around July, I am hoping we see it at Verizon by January 1, 2010. I have been happy with the Verizon network, and since the majority of my family and friends are on Verizon, I save a lot of minutes. As much as I would absolutely LOVE to have a Pre, other than the device itself, there is no incentive. Obviously, Sprint is hoping most people don’t think that’s the case. Plus, Palm admitted that Pre is not going to be the only device with the new WebOS. I knew that was coming. Palm has fallen so far behind in the smartphone market, that they need to be available on all networks. Back to my original question, are you willing to switch to Sprint for a new Palm Pre? Um… No. Not switching. Not even thinking about switching. If Palm would like to sell me a Pre, they’re going to launch a GSM version of it. But seeing they have some sort of exclusive thing going on with Sprint, I’m not going to hold my breath.

Yes. I would switch to get the new Palm Pre.
How about a poll?

I am already on Sprint, so I am good to go.
Hopefully I can add it on with no problems. Might have to wait until my one year contract ends.

I want the Pre…bad. Unfortunately I will not make the jump to Sprint to get it. I may try to unlock/import the GSM ones once they are out to use on my AT&T contract. Plus…the wife likes her iPhone way too much.

I had Sprint and I ditched them for AT&T because of better reception – I’m not going back to Sprint as the coverage I’ve experienced was atrocious.

I have been with Sprint for 8 years. They used to have the best coverage for traveling around the US back in the day, but they all look just about the same for what I need. My husband bailed and even paid the $200 to get away when we were both having trouble with their customer service. But within the past year it has gotten much better and their plans are cheaper.
We found out that we would end up saving close to $900 in 2 years with a Sprint family plan when compared to AT&T and T Mobile. He loves his T Mobile and both of us would love to have the iphone as we are huge apple fans, but the $ we would save is just too much to argue with.
We are both going for the Palm Pre as it is the best phone (with the best reviews) on Sprint for what we use our phones for.
