Internet Explorer Mobile 6, Want It?

teaser_internet_explorer_6 Eeny, meeny, miney, mo, with which windows mobile browser will I go? That’s the dilemma we all face when using windows mobile devices no matter what the flavour. Although the release of WinMo 6.5, which will include the latest update to IEM, wont be here till much later in the year, there are a few murmurs today around the intertubes that suggest that WinMo 6.1 users may get access to the new version. What the guys at PocketNow are calling 6 on 6. Now what they are selling isn’t quite kosher if you know what I mean, but what can we hope for on on the Internet Explorer Mobile 6 front?

Arne over at the Unwired View, today, posted the goods on what we can expect

According the latest confirmed information, Internet Explorer Mobile 6 will not become available to Windows Mobile 6.5 but also – as expected – to Windows Mobile 6.1. However, due to the application requirements it will not become available as a stand-alone update file (aka CAB installation) only but it will become part of Windows Mobile 6.1 AKU 1.4 and above.

So the system requirements will be, a device with 128Mb Ram [at least] and a 400MHz processor, without that IEM wont run on your device, but the biggest thing here is, will your device manufacturer provide a ROM update for your WinMo device? If you have a device that supports the system requirements, you are dependent on the device manufacturer to provide the update, not Microsoft, tricky eh?
