Sprint releases Palm Pre specs…launch coming soon???

You don’t just tease a captive audience with trailers of a movie a year before its release, do you? Oh wait, you do? Ok, so bad example. But Sprint wouldn’t just release the tech specs of the Palm Pre on their website without plans to release the actual device within a few months time – that would just be evil, and we all know carriers aren’t evil!

Personally, I’ve read rumours stating a March 1 or March 15 release, but it’s really all speculation for now. The Palm Pre is probably the only other phone I’d really consider buying instead of an iPhone, so I’m hoping they bring it to Canada sometime soon (read: before 2010).

Review: Spb Wallet 2.0

spbwallet_1 I have to say, I’ve been using Spb Wallet since version 1.0, and I want to refer you to the review that made me pick up the program in the first place. TJ really pointed out what made the application great in that iteration, and sold me on it. Then when I read Lauren’s head to head, of eWallet and Spb Wallet, I had already upgraded to Spb Wallet 1.5, and have been using it ever since. So any new upgrade is on my radar, when version 2,0 came out, I had my sleeping bag and was waiting on line for my download, virtually.

Of course, Spb Wallet is a very stable, and time tested application, but the tendency to focus on finger friendly, sans stylus, applications has driven many windows mobile developers to upgrade the UI’s they include in updates. most WinMo devices don’t have a large screen, so the finger friendly options become a moot point. Although, they make apps look a whole lot better.

Spb Wallet 2.0 offers a new UI, a bevy of new syncing options, and a more succinct file system, compacting your previous wallet files, let’s go

Link love: Contacts de-duper [Gear Diary]

geardiary_google_contacts_merge_01

This tip isn’t really mobile, but it’s still insanely useful: what happens when you have three Doug Goldrings on your Gmail contact list? It’s annoying having one person (however benevolent and awesome they may be) split into three because they have separate school, work, and personal e-mails. Google apparently caught onto this and implemented a sweet new feature within Google Contacts.  Just click on the checkboxes beside the contacts you want to merge and then click on the right side of the screen to merge. The process is still manual, however, so this won’t save Judie from the 800+ contacts that need to be combined. Now if only they’d do something about all those bloody duplicate appointments I have in Google Calendar…

Pic and tip from Gear Diary – good luck merging, Judie!
