Giz gets hands-on time with the Android G2 (software keyboard!!)


Hot off the heels on a post about a WinMo software keyboard I figure it’s just best to show another clip of another mobile system giving a software keyboard a shot. The Android G1 was released without a software keyboard of any kind, so all the G1 users had by default was the hardware slide-out hardware keyboard. With the upcoming ‘cupcake’ update all Android users will have the choice of using a software keyboard, and it’s looking pretty darn good:

 

I’m not really sure what I think about the whole “letter shows up on other side of screen” bit, though. I’d have to try it to form an opinion.

I have to say that quite a lot of winmo SIPS allow a similair setting, to the side left or right, I didn't think the responsiveness looked very good.

The keyboard of the HTC Magic is so cool. Wish it came with a better camera.
