Review: Another Look at the Invisible Shield Device Protector

IMG_3491

One of my big frustrations with my HTC Touch Pro has been the inability to find a good case.  I mean, the thing is constantly getting dinged against tables, desks and other surfaces…not to mention the fingerprint prone screen.  Truth be told, I have the same problem with my unprotected iPod Touch.  Especially the fingerprints on the screen from my sticky-fingered three year old who loves to play games on it.  I asked around for some ideas and just about everyone eventually recommended the Invisible Shield protectors.  Now, we have written about these fantastic protectors on numerous occasions, so this will not be a full on review.  I just wanted to take a few minutes and tell you about my experience with them.

Station Break – A New Hallelujah!

Michael W. Smith – A New Hallelujah!

Have you ever heard a song that just makes the hairs on your head rise on end? Well, for me, A New Hallelujah! is one of those songs. It not only makes you feel good but the lyrics are upbeat and edifying to your spirit. This is one of those songs that I sometimes listen to looped and it gets me awake. Music is fuel for the the spirit, and certainly I want as much of it as I can get. They say that in the presence of God is always music – for those who believe it is our desire to one day be with God and of course, that would mean being in the presence of the best music for eternity.

Music connects our souls to the spiritual realm. Whether it be from edifying and uplifting music, or other more…different…types which bring one to a state of mental anguish, the power of music is evident without me having to mention much about it.

Now, what can be done to make music that is out there your own? To internalize it yet to add your own personal touch to it as a painter with a brush adding that special yet deliberate stroke to a tapestry of song? I find it to be quite a pleasure to sing with the music, adding to the tune. To me music is such a blessing, when you can hear so many different variations proceeding simultaneously and then rejoining for parts…yet, the many other parts you hear are not in the physical realm of hearing. I believe this is pure pleasure, where only you and your Maker can have a place of harmony where you are part of the audience as well as the choir.

REVIEW – Navigon 2200T

logo_new

I remember an international flight that I took a number of years ago where I was really impressed with the video display in the cabin showing the relative position of the aircraft and other information such as heading, altitude, temperature, and time until destination. Wow! I don’t have to hear “Are we there yet?” anymore…but when can I get that for my car? Well, initially I did buy a USB GPS system that connected to a laptop and got my Eee PC with DeLorme Streets and Trips as a GPS solution. It wasn’t bad – well, at least not until I came upon the Navigon 2200T which made my current solution a thing of the past….

Link Love: [Wired] Are netbooks killing PC innovation?

Resized 41

Fresh from posting a bit of news about the new Acer Aspire One I find myself wondering: have I just killed PC sales a little bit more? The argument that’s relayed in Wired’s article (which is actually from an HP tech officer) is that people are seeing netbooks as primary devices at a price of just $400 (give or take) and so higher tier PC’s are looking like luxury items. $1000 is the new $2000?

Personally, I think this doesn’t quite make sense to me. This isn’t an opinion based on numbers or trends, but just me and my Wind talking. I’ll never want to spend all my time hunched over the Wind and its micro screen. I start to miss my glorious 20” Viewsonic monitor after even an hour or two on the Wind. It’s a fantastic little writing machine, but I’m not going to get any gaming out of it, and I also don’t enjoy surfing or writing on it as much as I do on my desktop. There’s virtually no space to have to windows open side by side, and that’s one thing that anybody who references any sort of digital documentation is going to want – from blogging to writing essays for school, the larger the widescreen monitor, the better. Take a look at the picture above…you can see that the Wind barely even covers half the article, whereas my 20” monitor can handle Windows Live Writer and the article simultaneously.

However, if a lot of people are getting what they need for a mere $400 instead of buying $800 of laptop, why is that such a bad thing? Heck, it might even turn the computer market into something like the cellphone market where people buy a new phone every year or two.

Acer goes 10”, promises 7-hours of maximum fun

acer-aspire-one-10-inch

I have a lot of fun with my MSI Wind and its 6-cell battery, but I wouldn’t call it maximum fun. Maybe I just bought the wrong netbook.

Acer’s new and improved 10” Aspire One is guaranteeing seven whole hours of operating time on one charge, although I’m not sure if that’s with wi-fi off and power-saving mode on. Considering the fact that my Wind gets about 5 hours with power saving and wi-fi off, however, Acer’s new laptop sounds like it’s certainly made an improvement in batt life.

The new netbook will run XP, support up to 2 GB RAM, and will have optional 3G capability. You can check out the rest of the specs in the press release after the jump.
