Today we’ll be taking a look at a kind of earphones I’ve never used before: ones with a fabric cable *gasp*.
I know, it doesn’t sound like a big deal at all, but after having used the thick rubber cables of the Shure SE210’s for over a year this simple change is a very welcome one. The evils of rubber have taken their toll on my life and I’ve had to deal with the horrors of untangling curled wires, and … well, ok that was about it. The Vibe Duo from V-Moda promised to solve this problem and sound awesome at the same time – and all I had to do was open this brown box! How could I refuse?!
A short while ago a new company sprang up on the JAMM radar and we were quick to give them a holler and ask to take a look at some of their gear. This new (to us) company – Rivet – has been around for quite a long time making clip systems for consumer electronics and you can find these clip systems on all sorts of cases from MP3 players to phones.
Well, they popped up on our radar when they started to team up with the folks over at Vaja. So far this information and technology sharing team up has produced some excellent stuff – one of them being the Rivet Hard Leather Case for the iPhone 3G. So, since we’re all here anyway – how’s about we take a look?
Last week, we told you all about our favorite mobile software, hardware, and accessories from 2008. Now, we want to hear from you. What are your favorite mobile discoveries from this past year? What predictions are you looking forward to for 2009?
Just leave a comment on this post and tell us about your favorite things. And while you are at it, let us know your current device (some prizes are device specific). Beginning this Wednesday, we will start choosing between 1 and 5 winners each day for a vast plethora of cases, software, mobile accessories, and more. The prizes are currently pouring in, and we already have quite a bit from Ilium, SplashData, Electric Pocket, Proporta, Sena Cases, and more!! We will keep this contest open until we have given everything away.
Here are a few rules:
- You may enter as many times as you like, but each entry must be made in a separate comment.
- You may win multiple prizes with multiple entries, but each entry can win only once.
- In order to be a complete entry, a comment must answer one of the above questions.
That’s about it. This contest is open until we run out of things to give away. Good luck!!!
By entering this contest, you authorize Just Another Mobile Monday, and its representatives, to provide your personal information (such as, but not limited to your name and email address) to the sponsors of this contest should you be selected as a winner. Your personal information will not be sold by Just Another Mobile Monday, or otherwise retained for any purpose except that described herein.
Palm have made no secret about a big announcement, scheduled for this Thursday, they’ve even held a contest, so that excited, expectant, loyal Palm users could win a look at their next big thing.
What is expected, is at least the unveiling of an updated OS, the rumoured Nova? A post from TechCrunch today though, seems to be offering us a little bit more than just the OS.
We have information from a trusted source that the latest Palm smartphone running the Nova operating system will be launched Thursday. The new phone will have a full QWERTY keyboard that will slide down under a portrait-oriented touchscreen. We’ll have a mock-up shortly.
Yes they have a mock up for us, and a bad one at that, but their sources also make iPhone comparisons, to the OS not the form factor of the phone.
Anyone remember a show, “Ripley’s Believe it or Not”.
Exclusive: New Palm phone to have slide-down keyboard, large touchscreen
Our good friend Clinton, over at Clinton Fitch dot Com has posted a great look at what sounds like some confounding stuff that mobile service providers get up to!
I’m sure I’ve mentioned that I’ve got a HTC TYTN II, on the way, [damn snail mail] so of course I’m looking for helpful software maniacally. So I’m reading and researching, and yesterday, Clinton tweeted about a useful app aimed at the TYTNII, Tilt, P4450 or if your a purist the Kaiser. Kaiser is a rather unfortunate naming faux pas, “don’t mention the war”.
KaiserTweak is a tweaking application that allows you to adjust various registry settings in your Kaiser device without having to actually go into the registry. Think of it as Tweaks2K2 that is specific only to these devices (in fact, I use both on my Tilt now).
Clinton’s post though is much more than a look at a tweaking app, he rails at and questions the policies of mobile service providers, and rightly so! Hit the link below for the full article, and a bit of education. You’ll be especially interested in this if you’ve an AT&T Tilt, as it let’s you take advantage fully of their famous 3G network, will boost your download speed by 65%.
