Quick Look: Recover Your iPod With The Environmentally Friendly Revive Nano Case

Capture1

Usually, Heather is the one who brings you the environmentally friendly tips around here.  Well, Heather and her Pandas, that is.  So, I am not trying to step on her toes.  But when I came across these environmentally friendly cases from Recover (formerly Imoeba), I was just so drawn to their sleek stylings, I had to step in and write this one up (besides, Heather does not own an iPod).

IMG_3412Recover has two lines of cases, the Alpine and the Revive.  Today, we’ll be talking about the Revive.  Specifically, the Revive Nano, designed specifically for the iPod Nano (fourth generation).

The biggest attraction of this case is, of course, the fact that it is made completely from recycled materials, even the plastic and cardboard packaging.  The claim is that this recycled rubber is cleaner than silicon.  Now, I really have no idea whether this is true or not, but I can say that the recycled rubber feels great in my hand.

One of my bigger complaints about silicon cases is that they are so flimsy, they rarely hold their shape.  I had no such problem with this one.  The case covered my iPod on all sides, except the bottom, which is open.

Just slide the iPod in from the bottom, until it rests snugly against the top.  The case will gently hug your iPod, securing it place.  cutouts give you complete access to the screen, scrollwheel, and other ports and controls.

The other thing I liked about this case was the design etched into the case.  Not that the design is any kind of work of art (it is a pretty cool design), but it gives the case some texture.  The iPod is a thin, slick device, which is easy to drop.  this texture is well received as it makes it much easier to grip the device without dropping it.

Of course, the fact that this case is made from recycled materials is not the only way the folks at Recover help the environment.  They are truly committed to their cause.  Proceeds from the sale of these cases go directly to Earth911, which is described as, “the nation’s premiere environmental resource.”  Additionally, every Revive case sold contributes to a tree planted by SeedTree.org.

I have to say, I was pretty impressed by Recover’s commitment to the environment with this one.  Not only did they make a fantastic case, but also, it is a triple whammy on the environment.  It is made completely from recycled material, and proceeds from the case go to two environmental organizations.  Talk about reducing your own personal carbon footprint.  I won’t say that you will save any Pandas with this case, but you will certainly help the environment…and look good in the process.

You can check it all out at Recover’s website (or go straight to the Revive Series page), and then purchase the Revive for your ipod Nano for just  $19.99 at Fry’s Electronics and numerous other online stores.

Pandas are always thankful for anything that will help improve our environment. :) I love the little tree design on the case. its fun, but it doesn't take away from the device. Now, we just need to get them to make some for the Zune.
