Android Shuffle, or is it a Quick Step?
The G1 android phone was and is a ground breaker as far as introducing the new OS from Google. Well it’s not so new now, but except for new applications developed for the OS, and lots of people joining the bandwagon, there has been little movement in the development of devices with the OS on them.
So what would you say to a T-Mobile G2 device, there has been a rumour going around for a few days now, that, is rather dubious.
Although the rumour has been discredited somewhat, and given a nice bit of photochop, still the posts come, the tenacity with which the mobile community has embraced this bit of folly, is laughable, but the other information that has surfaced because of the impetus provided by this unverifiable tidbit is rather news worthy.
It may have even spurred the bevy of news that has surfaced since it became intertube fodder.
Whilst most of us are involved with the Android OS, interested in what it will do in the future, very few of us are committed. As are a lot of device manufacturers. The difference between involved and committed, Hmmm… think about bacon and eggs. The chicken is involved, but the pig is committed.
So the rumour of an Android G2 phone, as BGR’s slightly edited whimsical HTC Touch HD suggests is a big, what’s the sound they play on quiz shows when you get a question wrong? Bberrghhhhhhhh. !!! [I don't really know how to spell that sound!]
To consolidate the rest of the info that has surfaced around the rumour though, you have to start with the “CupCake“. Now this is news of an update for Android that is tailored towards a full touch screen device, no hardware keyboards here. Cupcake as it has been dubbed introduces a software input solution for Android that has formerly been lacking. if you have a device with a hardware keyboard, and a touch screen, wouldn’t you like the option to access either.
Another thing mentioned very early on was the fact that T-Mobile had actually trademarked/copyrighted the names G1, G2 and G3, forward thinking or fuel for the rumour fire.
The only real things here are press releases and actual devices that you can order, and I say that loosely. We have the Kogan Agora, that has some image issues, but you can actually pay for it! Samsung have let us know they’ve got android game this week too, and the latest and greatest Garmin, and it’s not the Nuviphone. Garmin are going super human as well! I have no more details than what I’m posting, but the last link, is a better encapsulating android news post, than I’ve done here.
Anyway Robot News over and out!
Crush kill, Will Robinson!
