Yeah, I read your blog post. :) That is actually one of the reasons I reconsidered my opinion of the card faces. I thought you made some good points about stressing the matching. And this does make it much easier to make flushes and matches. Like I said, the cards are so small that it could be difficult to distinguish suits. And I actually played it for quite some time before I noticed the suits in the background of the cards. :)

But I do think it would be nice to have some different skins for the cards down the road.

@Doug: I actually wrote on this subject in my blog, as another person suggested this too. I really did want to stress with it that it is more of a match game, and actually if you purchase '4 color' decks these are the colors they use. And for processing flushes the colors really help at least for the myself and the testers I used. I think once you play you almost dont realize the heart or diamond is on the tile, though you still think of it as the suit.

There were a bunch of interesting thoughts and experiments that went into this game idea...

@ Birdsoft -- In my first draft, I actually did write that you should have used better card faces. What changed my mind though was the size of the card face. In a matching game like this, it could be difficult for users to distinguish between red diamonds and hearts. So, you would still want to have some artificial color. Plus, like I said, it does highlight the fact that ultimately, this is a color matching game, not a poker game. Different skins would be a great compromise though.

@ Merlin...I hope so too.

@ Breley, my wife often thinks the same thing. And you probably have more cards in your deck than I do. ;)

>This means you are not quite playing with a full deck of 52 cards…but close enough.

That about sums up my wife's opinion of me. :)

Of course I put my Touch away and now after reading this I'm going to have to go out and try the darn thing.

Thanks Doug. Yes, this is our first original iPhone and iPod Touch title, and if shown enough interest Id love to bring it to the WM side too...

A new version is already about done that makes the 'help' 3 pages for easier reading and with a poker hand cheat sheet on the last page. This will be shown to you the first time you play the game now. It also will add 2 new game modes and have two difficulty levels along with a pause button and access from the game to the help or title pages. A few other cool things will be thrown in as well...

I hope most people agree with your final assessment of the the tiles. I have heard from someone that wanted the other way, though I have seen games out there that did go the other way, and processing the cards seems so much more difficult. We might eventually add a skin that looks like that though.

Thanks again, we are very excited about this titles possibilities and people that play it seemed to get hooked after the very short learning curve. But as you play more you figure out more and more cool strategies to help you out. I regularly approach level 18-20... :)
