Why I switched from Palm OS to Windows Mobile
Posted by: Sue on Nov 11 2008
In my job over at PPCTechs, I see operating systems from Windows Mobile, Palm and Symbian (Blackberry).
Bit of background for you: those of you who have called into the company - I’m the girl with the English accent. Those of you who email us with a question, I’m the one that answers the email. Those of you who send units in - I used to be the one who checks them in and sent you the email to say it’s there. Yeah, that’s me.
In the process of checking in devices, I had to do certain checks to see what was working, and what wasn’t, and eventually I became so used to the Windows Mobile platform that I started to “resent” my Palm OS because I had to retrain my brain every evening after work to adjust to the operating system.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved the Centro, it was my first PDA…….but……I’ve been using Windows since it was developed for the PC, and I think ultimately I have the “Microsoft Mindset”.

As Doug mentioned in a previous post, I just purchased the Touch Pro as I wanted/needed (I’m female, want is the same as need, ok!) a WM device that would suit my nerdy needs. In my tiny shoebox apartment I have a desktop computer and a laptop, but they’re not handy for carrying around, you know? This device is perfect, and as it has Windows for the OS…..I’m a happy sunny bunny. Keep an eye out for the reviews, Doug, Lauren and I will be getting together to bring you in-depth looks at the unit, both hardware and software…it’s going to be good!
And do you know how hard it is to write all this with a 6 month old kittum purring in your lap??
