Press Release: Astraware Brings Glyph To Your iPhone

Glyph

Just a quick note to let you know that one of my favorite Windows Mobile games is now available on the iPhone.  Astraware announced today the availability of Glyph from the iTunes App Store.  From the company that practically invented the color matching game (or at least perfected it), this brings the color matching action to a whole new level.  And to make it even better, for a limited time, this one is available for only $1.99.  Hit the jump for more information, including a link to a fantastic video that really helps demonstrate the incredible playability (yes, that is a word) of this game.

Handmark Announces ‘Glyph’ Puzzle Game Available on Apple App Store

Kansas City, MO – November 3rd, 2008 – Handmark(R) today announced its ‘Glyph(R)’ puzzle game for iPhone and iPod touch is available on the Apple App Store. Glyph is a puzzle game, developed in partnership by Sandlot Games and Astraware(R) – the Handmark Games Studio, in which players try to save the dying world of Kuros by reassembling ancient glyphs hidden beneath layers of rock and glistening stones. Using the unique iPhone multi-touch interface, players can touch groups of like-colored gemstones to break through ancient layers of rock and reveal the glyphs.

"We are thrilled to partner with Handmark to bring Glyph to iPhone and iPod touch," said Daniel Bernstein, president and CEO of Sandlot Games. "Glyph represents the first game in our initiative to bring all our best-selling titles to this revolutionary new platform."

"The beautiful graphics in Glyph make full use of the stunning screen and offer an incredibly immersive feel," said Howard Tomlinson, Director of Game Development, Astraware. "We’re truly delighted at how much fun it is!"

Glyph immerses players in a fantastic gaming experience with vibrant graphics, atmospheric music and sound effects, and an ethereal guide to talk players through the game and story of Kuros. The game offers many hours of fun with more than 200 levels across 2 play modes. The release of this title extends the long-term relationship between Sandlot Games and Astraware – the Handmark Games Studio, which began with the award-winning strategy game, Tradewinds(R), in 2004.

"We are excited to continue building out our catalog of high-quality games and apps for the Apple App Store," said Cassidy Lackey, vice president of Handmark Studios. "Glyph is a fun, well-designed game that I am confident iPhone and iPod touch users will find enjoyable."

Glyph is available worldwide for the introductory price of $1.99 (regular price $4.99) from Apple’s App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at http://www.itunes.com/appstore

Been playing this for the past few days – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! (especially if you’re a bejewelled fan or a fan of games like it). Seriously worth the purchase and one of the best games I’ve played on the iPhone yet!

Brandon, have you also played Trism? At this point I’m mainly in doubt wether I should get Trism or Galcon, but of course Glyph is probably of good quality as well (as are all Astraware games). I was thinking – if you play Glyph you may like matching games, and if so, you may have experience with Trism.
If so, do you (still) like it?

SPM, I have never played those other games (may needto check them out). I can tell you that Glyph is one of my all time favorite Astraware games. It is the best color matching game I have played, and I highly recommend it.

I’ve got Glyph on my PPC, which is the reason I’m not getting it on the iPod Touch. It may be a that the experience on the iPod Touch is a bit different, but I’d rather spend the few bucks (well Euros actually) on a game that’s completely new to me. :)

SPM – sorry been busy. I’ve played Trism. For about 5 minutes before it just seemed like more work than fun. I don’t want to rotate and rotate and rotate just to play a game like that. The idea was good and the game is excellent… but it just wasn’t for me.

No problem, thanks for your comment. After a discussion on TouchArcade forums I went for Galcon. I haven’t played it a lot yet because I’ve been busy today but I look forward to trying the new game modes (which aren’t in the Lite version) tonight.
