Ragart is a tool: buys whatever Doug Goldring buys

MSI Wind

Man, I need to buy a backbone sometime. So there I am just living my life and being all independent and whatnot. One day Doug has to talk about how he’s bought some fancy pants little Netbook and he’s oh so happy about it and all that jazz. Bah! Then all of a sudden there’s monumental wallet rockslide and I’m out over $500. Where’d it go? Gone with the Wind.

I’ve been a PDA and smartphone geek for a while, but I’ve never stepped into the realm of the top-of-lap until just this morning when I bought myself a 6-cell MSI Wind from NCIX.com. Maybe it’s that charming way that Mr. Doug writes, or maybe it’s the desire to be able to write reviews and surf outside of my dark, windowless room. I didn’t care all that much about netbooks before, but now that I’m at school so often it’d be pretty neat to be able to have some ultra lightweight computer to do my bidding. Whatever it is, I now get to join the legion of laptoppaires on their march to mobile Computia.

Anyway, that’s all I have to say. I won’t do an un-boxing since Doug’s already done one, but maybe I can cook up a video tour or something when the lappy arrives.

yeah, that looks mega cool — but I need my wifi! I’d love to try the Mac OS on this baby, though. Maybe after a bit.

Honestly, I have found that the Wind works great with XP. It is blazing fast. And since it is not my primary computer, it is not all junked up with bloat to weigh it down.

Give it more than a month Doug. XP will find bloat on its own :)

Glad you like it though – I’d consider one if I had the dough, but I’m pretty married to my Mac.

That’s what happens when you write for JAMM, Thomas! :)

Well, I have intentionally not loaded much on it. Most programs stay on my main computer. I only have 4 or 5 essential programs installed which helps a lot. And not Vista. :)

I was really, really tempted to delete the whole article and just leave the title :D

Was there a Linux version as well, of the WIND? I don’t recall

Yes. There is a Linux version.
