Windows Mobile 7… waiting
It seems Windows Mobile development has stalled, I find myself wondering if Jerry Seinfeld has a BlackBerry? and Bill may be a little less observant than he used to be. Old Age hits us all at some stage. Accepting the fact that Windows Mobile development is actually measured in dog years {seven to one} seems to be the norm, and according to a post at Cnet News today, we’ll be dressing like the android in the photo to the right before we see a competitive update to rival Android.
Although Microsoft has not publicly said when to expect Windows Mobile 7, partners who had expected to have a final release in their hands by early next year have been told now that it won’t be ready until the second half of next year, sources told CNET News.
Somehow, it strikes me that this is indicative of the Microsoft approach, we’ve got it all, but wait there’s more…
Most Windows Mobile users would like to see a real OS update, not just a collection of random patches that define the WM6 and WM6.1 updates. Yes Windows Mobile has been updated since WM5, but they seem like point updates, version updates seem to be lacking. I suppose I’d like to see some changes, well major changes in the Mobile OS especially considering the bevy of devices emerging that have as much power, as the first desktop computer that I ever played with. Seriously, sometimes I think M$ has cast it’s net too wide, to be able to manage, and maintain/ support all of it’s users. Whilst they try to reinvigorate their image with the “I’m a PC” campaign, they are leaving a lot of users out in the cold as far as updates are concerned.
Looks like there will not be an update for some time, but as usual Steve says almost all.
