SplashPhoto 5 released; Resco returns fire with $10 Resco Viewer discount

![]()
SplashPhoto 5 has just been released for $29.95 ($10 for upgrade), and it’s sporting a new, finger-friendlier look. Other major features are: tree-view mode, .jpg/tiff/gif/bmp support, and the ability to share your pics on online pic services like Picasa and Flickr. I was surprised that .jpg support is a new feature, but I think they mean something else. Splash Photo 4 definitely supported jpeg.
But if SplashPhoto 5 doesn’t interest you, might I re-direct you to a little something Tam Hanna says about another mobile photo viewer:
Shocked observers watch willingless peons queue up to receive the
blessings of the View of Splash. The blessings of lacklustre feature
sets, lack of advanced functionality, bloatedness, high price and low
performance. All in the name of the holy Splash. Oh, Splash, let us
praise thee!
This was the opening salvo for Resco, who is announcing a $10 discount from Aug 27-Sep 7 for Resco Photo Viewer 2007 for Palm and WinMo. This brings the price down to just $15. Alright, I’m gonna step out of the ring now. This cage match is gonna get messy, but our readers don’t need to worry – they’re winning either way.
