Review: Proporta Classic Case for Asus Eee PC 700 Series

It’s always nice to see companies expanding their product lines to cover new products. Proporta has never been on the slow side of getting things covered. Today, we’ll be looking at Proporta’s Classic Case for the Asus Eee PC and seeing how this beautiful piece of craftsmanship can protect your device as well as provide additional functionality.

Alright, now that you’ve seen the packaging, let’s take the actual case out of the box. The case is made of beautiful Alu-Leather and the latch is made of a small but relatively strong magnet that’s powerful enough to keep the case shut, but remember to keep magnetic media away from it.

Let’s open it up and then let’s flip it over.

One of the things you’ll notice in the design on this case is the superb placement of cutouts. You can see the cutouts for the mouse, the lights, and later we’ll look at the sides that offers complete access to all ports and lights. Holes at the locations of the speakers and fans are also made to allow better airflow for your unit while keeping it covered. Let’s put my Wee little PC in…and here’s the front….

Here’s the left and right sides…

Here’s the bottom…now we just need to open her up to see how this case adds some additional functionality.

Now here’s the case in an open position. As you can see they have supplied enough room for storing a business card (wow that leather can be tight at times, I guess I can trim my card a bit) and 2 SD cards. The SD cards are a great help as my little 4G Eee PC relies on flash memory for everything. Most of my programs are installed on the SD cards you see here.

Here’s the case in an open position. I have full and easy access to the touchpad mouse. The little latch doesn’t get in the way of my webcam.

And finally here you can see it in all of its glory…the side angle open pose. Proporta as usual has come up with a top-notch carefully thought out product that will add some functionality as well as keep the dust off your laptop (it will provide very limited defense in the event of a spill or drop). My only qualm with it is a desire to get the top portion of the cover to cling to the top part of my Eee PC like their photo that’s on the box. It’s a small thing, but certainly there needs to remain an easy way to access the SD card compartments and this current method certainly does work well.

I can’t wait to see what other new cases Proporta will come up with. One thing I do know for sure from all the other things I’ve seen Proporta make – it will offer full access to the device while adding a touch of elegance as well functionality…which is in this author’s opinion…most delightful.
