Push Gmail – Now On Windows Mobile
Posted by: dgoldring on Sep 30 2008 - 284 views
One of the biggest gripes I hear from Windows Mobile users is that there is no true way to get your Gmail pushed to your device. Sure, you can simulate something like this by setting Pocket Outlook to check your mail every 15 minutes. But really, this is not the same as push which alerts you as soon as a message hits your inbox.
Well, gripe no more (or for those of you who always have to have something to gripe about, find something else). A free Windows Mobile add-on from developer gmurray will now allow you to push your email from any IMAP service, directly to your device. And as everyone here knows, last year, Gmail started offering IMAP service, in addition to POP3.
You can download the program for free, here. But before you do, I will just warn you that it is still a Beta, so it may have some imperfections. For more information, you can also check out the developer’s blog and the program documentation. Enjoy!!!

Take A Survey…Win A Free Treo
Posted by: dgoldring on Sep 30 2008 - 12 views
Here is something quick and easy you can do, which could result in a free Treo. The folks over at Palm want to know how you manage your information. Information management, after all, is essentially the primary reason you probably bought a PDA in the first place. As Palm puts it, though:
Information has become the lifeblood of the business world. But in many workplaces, that lifeblood isn’t just circulating — it’s hemorrhaging. Palm is participating in a comprehensive survey being conducted by the research firm Basex that’s analyzing just how much information we all try to manage every day — and how people deal with it.
To help them understand what tools you will need in order to better manage you information, and make your PDA more relevant to your needs, they have put together a short survey. It only takes 10 minutes to complete, so it should not be a huge burden on your time. Five lucky participants will even win a free Palm Treo just for completing the survey. So, what are you waiting for? I have given you all of the information I have. You’ll need to head over to Palm and complete the survey for the rest. And if you do win the Treo, be sure to come back and let us know about it.

Review: Iliumsoft’s eWallet for iPhone
Posted by: Ragart on Sep 30 2008 - 60 viewseWallets are a pretty new concept to me. I’ve had a PDA or smart device for a while now, but I’ve kept the information on my devices to a minimum for security reasons. Keeping the credit card numbers in the ol’ wallet always seemed like the best solution, but now that I’ve started making more online purchases (read: more than zero), it’s really a lot handier to have my info in a more accessible location. Otherwise I’ve got to walk to the door, grab my wallet, and then bring it back up front when I’m done. Laaaame.
One thing I have on my person just as often as my wallet is my iPhone. So if Illium offers me a way to keep a virtual wallet, save some pocket space, and not have to walk to the front door every single time I make an eBay purchase – hey, I’m game for giving eWallet a shot!

Symbian can soon join VoIP coolness?
Posted by: Ragart on Sep 29 2008 - 17 viewsWell this isn’t really news a program per se (per who?), but an engine. Regardless, it’s still something exciting for the Symbian crowd. EMCC Software has developed a VoIP engine for the Symbian platform, which apparently did not have one until now. This hopefully means Symbian phones will be seeing Skype-like programs to take advantage of wi-fi or unlimited data plans to save you some minutes. I’m actually not sure what they mean by “engine”…whether that engine comes with any sort of program, or whether they’re waiting for devs to use the engine in a program?
Maybe you can figure it out in the full press release after the jump.

SBSH releases SafeWallet Pro for the Blackberry
Posted by: Ragart on Sep 28 2008 - 11 views
SBSH, long-time WM and Symbian PIM software company, is branching out to cover Blackberries, too. This isn’t any kind of today screen plugin or PIM, though. This time they’re password protecting your personal information on your device, so you can leave your credit card numbers, website logins, and secret handshake descriptions on your BB without worrying about them being seen by unauthorized personnel. The program also includes a PC client, so you can keep a two-way sync of all your most important goodies.
The software costs $24.95, and you can hit up a full press release (including download links) after the jump.

Link Love: BT headset shootout over at MTS!
Posted by: Ragart on Sep 28 2008 - 30 views
Keep your head low, this one’s gonna get nasty. Tariq of My Today Screen has matched Aliph’s newest Jawbone headset against BlueAnt’s Z9i – the winner gets awarded with a semi-permanent spot (hey, he’s a reviewer – he gets more stuff every month!) on his ear and a hearty recommendation. They’re both high-end headsets, so it should be interesting to find out which one is really worth your $100+. If you live in one of those hands-free only driving states, you’re going to want to look this review up ASAP.
Luckily, I happen to have the link right here. Err, no, that’s not it. Here it is.
