Check out Sony’s new Xross Fade and S-AIRPLAY sound systems

So there are two different items in this post. First up, we’ve got the Xross Fade: an DJ system where you can mix and fade tracks from two different iPods or other sources (CD’s are the only ones specifically mentioned). I don’t know very much at all about DJ-ing, but this kit looks monstrously cool. Sony says it can fill up any room or dorm with its 450W of power output, Personally, those are just numbers to me, but look at the size of those speakers. Their sheer size make me believe my shirt’s going to vibrate when the base starts pumping. You can also do things like pre-check the next track on headphones while keeping the room’s beat pumping separately on speakers, or restore some of the quality of mp3 files (although I’m not sure if they mean the ones on your iPod).

Our second item today looks even cooler. The S-AIRPLAY is a multi-room sound system. You place your iPod (not sure if it’s iPhone compatible yet) on that gorgeous little dock and pump the sound wirelessly to the two included stereo speakers. The whole set is also FM-compatible, so you can listen to radio on one speaker, and the iPod’s music on another. If that’s not enough functionality for ya, the dock also functions as an alarm, a sleep timer, and charges whatever is in the dock. Sony says this’ll cost around $400 for the dock and two speakers, with extra speakers running you about $130 per set.
