On My iPhone: DataCase hits the Appstore

This past week has been somewhat frustrating for me. You see I’ve been waiting for DataCase to hit the Appstore for some time now – and all last week all Apple seemed to be approving was crap. Sure there may have been a few decent apps out the last few days but I figure there was just about enough shit to sink a ship. All the while I was sitting there knowing that DataCase was just waiting in the wings. Now its here (finally) and I’m really looking forward to giving this app a run for my money.
As they said on their website and in the description it’s really easy to use (for the most part), but its a bit buggy in this first version. For Example, rotating a large PDF can take a lot longer than it should – like this one where I managed to stare at this screen for about 20 seconds…
Large transfers (200+) of images tend to time out and then deleting the folders with lots of images doesn’t complete until you close out of the application and come back. Its the little things like this I hope to see improve over time.
I’d also really like to see them integrate some kind of photo viewer like the Photos app uses. Switching between images is a painful task as they tend to load slow and then getting back to the main list is slow.
But all in all the app isn’t too bad, of course that’s without having had much time to really get into it yet. The PDF viewer is pretty good, it had no issues with docs, links, video and the like. And if you’re running on a Mac getting files onto the device is about as easy as it can get. Anyway … hop on over the Appstore and give DataCase a look. Just might be the file storage app you’ve been waiting for.
