Quick Tip: Why SDHC may not always work for you
Posted by: Brandon Steili on Aug 10 2008
Saw this over at Gearlog and I figured I would pass it along just in case some of you were in mental limbo like I was on the topic. Be sure to click the link at the bottom for the full story, but basically you’re looking at two different filesystems (fat16 vs. fat32) and older gear just isn’t capable of reading the new stuff.
Unfortunately, older card readers are stuck on the original system. Put an SDHC card in an old-style standard reader and it might as well be speaking Yiddish.
Here’s where we stand:
SD cards can be read in any SD or SDHC reader.
SDHC cards can only be read in SDHC compatible readers.
