So that’s what a Vertu is like…

Gear Diary reviews Vertu Ever heard of Vertu? The super duper Ferrari of cellphones?

Judie over at Gear Diary has had her hands on the Vertu Ascent and Constellation for a few months and has given us the scoop on what it’s like to use a really, really expensive dumb (i.e. not smart) phone. The long and short of it seems to be that they’re incredibly solid and don’t disappoint as phones either.

The coolest part of the article for me, though, was finding out more about the “Concierge” button on the side. It apparently hooks you up to their concierge service that is reachable at any time to serve you in basically any way you can think of – kind of like a mobile room service. You’re still paying for what the concierge will get you (like the opera tickets you might ask them to buy), but at least you don’t have to line up or wait on the phone for them. The concierge isn’t free, but my googling hasn’t been able to find me a price for the subscription either (anybody know? Julie didn’t know either).

The article got me curious about the brand, so I visited the Vertu website for a bit more information. They have another feature on their phones called “Vertu Fortress” that wirelessly backs up your information in an “ex-military underground bunker in England”. I was happy with my Exchange Service backup on my iPhone, but now I’m experiencing severe backup envy.
