Zune Marketplace’s Weekly Freebies

This week, the Zune Marketplace brings a little culture and diversity into our lives.  Their three selections for the week come to us from the worlds of Hip Hop, Jazz, and Latin Music.  I have to admit that I am not familiar with any of the artists, although I have heard of Herbie Hancock (and no, I am not just talking about the reference from a favorite movie of mine, Tommy Boy).  Discovering unknown artists and sounds is one of the best things about this weekly freebie promotion from Zune.  I am always interested in hearing new sounds, but I don’t want to risk paying for something I won’t like.

With this program, you download the songs with the Zune software, which is required in order to get the music in the first place, and there is no risk. If you like the songs, you keep them, if not, a simple delete, and you are finished.  Just as a side note, you cannot click on the image above to actually download the songs.  The funny thing is the link in the Zune weekly e-mail I receive does not take you to the songs either, only to the site to download the software.  Just another quirky Microsoft thing.  The best way to find the free music is just to do a search for the artist in the Zune Marketplace, and go from there.

Nice find, Heather. But sheesh, they certainly don’t make it easy, do they? :)

I think their plan is to make you search through the marketplace. :) I should mention you can also search ‘Three Free Weekly’.
