Celio Redfly Review @ Clinton FITCH!
Most of us look for ways to remote control and better utilise our mobile devices. Let’s face it you have a powerful handheld computing solution, but it’s terribly hard to input large amounts of data, or text, without a great deal of trouble and sometimes detrimental consequences!
Well it looks like Clinton has found a viable solution, in what he quaintly dubs the “Colourful Insect”, A.K.A the Celio Redfly.
It is important to remember that the REDFLY will only work with Windows Mobile 5.0 or 6 Professional (PocketPC) and Standard (Smartphone) devices and currently only a small subset of the total number of devices available. For a complete list of what devices are supported visit http://www.celiocorp.com/smartphone. Having said that, I did test the REDFLY with a number of devices including several that were not on the Celio website.
It’s a great read, and even though I think the Redfly is a pricey edition to a mobile toolkit, I can see a combination of this device extension and your WinMo device allowing you to do away with a laptop in many cases.

Very nice review of the redfly at CLinton Fitch. I was impressed with the ‘true’ USB 2 capability as many windows mobile usb are only 1.1. Also I was impressed with the remote storage. I’m much closer to buying a redfly because of it. I would still like to hear more regarding the keyboard as the keyboard is one of the main deals in getting something like a redfly. Also, it would be helpful to hear how practical the windows mobile cloud computing experience is right now. Also, how easy\practical it might be to connect to a regular computer at home and what the lag time might be\ what the screen size limitations are. Does anyone actually do that with the redfly. In particular how easy\hard it might be to load a noncab program through home pc through the ftp(or whatever) to the onthego mobile device as many developers still dont offer cab files. I’m talking cheap slow internet alternatives like a medium dsl internet connection. I wouldn’t mind hearing more about the redfly and the advantage specifically as I have an advantage. Im much closer to buying a redfly but Im not quite sold yet. I wish it had nice speakers. That would decide it for me. Id even pay more. As it is, Im looking real hard at the upcoming Dell entry or even a higher price alternative.
