As one of the most popular blogging platforms around, Wordpress has a huge following, including JAMM, which is a Wordpress site (in case ya didn’t know.)  Now, the developers of this great platform have released Wordpress for iPhone.  Read more about the program & a mini-review after the jump.

Little Hint, to see any of the screenshots full size click on them to go to the larger veiw of the image.

Wordpress iPhone

Made available in the App Store on July 22, this free application specifically for iPhone makes it possible to post to any Wordpress site, even when you are nowhere near a computer.

Downloading is simplicity itself.  As with all iPod Touch/iPhone apps, you can grab it using either iTunes and syncing, or directly over the air via the App Store button on your iPhone.

Once installed, just enter the URL, for your site, username and password, and you are ready to start posting.

Above you can see how easy it is to access any sites for which you write.

Selecting a blog will provide you with access to your local drafts folder (device only), as well as the number of recent posts you have selected (between 10 and 50, in increments of 10 with 30 being the default.)  The circular arrow refreshes the display.  The pen & paper opens the post writing window.

From the post writing window, you select your post title, tags (separated by comma’s), categories (which populate from the selected blog), Status (Pending Review / Private / Published / or Draft)

The remaining selections at the bottom of the screen are Pictures (Which allows insertion of a photo taken at that time, or from your phone camera roll),

Preview (Which gives a darn good preview of what the post will look like on line, as seen above) and Settings (Which allow you to set or change the publish date, and assign a password if you wish to protect the post.

After setting up (which was painless), I found the program simple to use.  Posts went up to my test site, with the attached picture, tags & categories.

During my testing, there were a couple of times that the program quit unexpectedly, but that may be due to operator issues.

As a version 1.0, and FREE program, this is an EXCELLENT addition to your iPhone if you are a Wordpress Blogger!

You can read more from the developers, and download a copy of the program here.
