TIME magazine has put together a list of 11 free iPhone apps that are cool enough to make the two people in the country without an iPhone 3G think about changing their minds.

The picks range from obvious (like Apple’s Remote app and Google Mobile Apps) to obscure and cover a lot of tech-toy ground. I’m wowed by Instapaper, the one that sends the full text of articles you’ve stumbled across on your computer but haven’t had time to read to your iPhone, so they’ll be waiting next time you’re stuck in line.

Several of the choices have alternatives listed, but that still leaves hundreds of apps that didn’t earn a mention. Goofy lightsaber simulators aside, did any of your favorites get the shaft?
