The Best Place In The World To Work? Just Google It…I Mean MS Live Search For It. You Be The Judge.

This one is a little off topic, but I thought it provided a very interesting look behind the scenes of two of the biggest players around.  Google and Microsoft.  Everyone knows that Google is the best place in the world to work.  Right?  I mean, they are ranked number on in every poll we see.  So, obviously, if anyone “escaped” from Microsoft, and started working in the Garden of Eden…I mean, Google, they would be crazy to go back.  I mean, they would, wouldn’t they?

Well, maybe not.  That is exactly the situation Sergey Solyanik, a Development Manager, found himself facing not long ago.  In this post on 1-800-Magic, Sergey gives an excellent look behind-the-scenes at both companies.  I was really surprised to find how balanced his approach was.  He did not slam either culture, but found some things to like in each, and some areas which could improve in both.

So.  Why did Sergey ultimately leave Google and return to Microsoft?  You will have to check out his full post over at 1-800-Magic to find out that answer.
