MacBook Air Wretched??? Say It Ain’t So!

Dan over at UNEASYsilence isn’t feeling the MBA love. In fact, he referred to the MacBook Air as “wretched” and has put it on his list of 5 worst machines he has ever owned. OUCH!!!
Them’s some strong words for the device. So let’s have a closer look at some of his complaints.
Dan notes
Scanning forums it seems Apple’s MacBook Air is plagued with problems ranging from extreme heat issues, failing hard drives, core shutdowns, poor wireless reception and poor case construction.
I have been dealing with issues with this portable since half my keyboard decided to stop work, the wireless reception is terrible at best when you but a strain on it and the heat this unit throws off is unacceptably hot. Don’t get me started on the joke of a battery life.
My Air arrived on the first Thursday after Apple began shipping so it was clearly one of the first machines off the assembly line. Talk about first generation machines!
Fortunately, I have not encountered any of these issues. The wireless range seems fine, it runs far cooler than my MacBook did, and its battery life is significantly longer than, say, my buddy Dimitri’s MacBook Pro. Yup, I’ll take my 3 1/2-4 hours over his 2 1/2 any day.
That isn’t to say I don’t believe Dan’s tale of woe. In fact, just last Sunday I was sitting in a coffee shop doing some work on my MBA when someone came by and asked if I was having any trouble with the screen flashing with multicolored stripes at boot the way his did. I told him I had encountered no such issues but since his was only three weeks old he should get it to the Genius Bar asap.
I hope he did.
