Google Maps Update, will help with your commute!

image During the week a nice little addition was added to Google Maps for Mobile, that went under the radar. Already available in the desktop version, the Google team have added local train and bus support for commuters in quite a few cities in the US.

This new version will let you get transport information in over 45 major Districts in the US, and there is coverage in Europe, Asia, Australia and Canada. It even has a few tweaks that the desktop version doesn’t.

This version of Google Maps for mobile even has a few tricks not yet available on the desktop version of Google Maps. For instance, you can find the last transit trips of the day (to figure out how late you can stay at the party) and more easily browse through earlier or later trips. The My Location feature, available on most phones, also makes it easier to set the start point of your journey.

Have a look at the video walk through, things are looking up for Google Maps, this adds a great feature that I hope disseminates to more locations around the world soon.

Currently available for BlackBerry and many other Java based phones as well. Check it out at the Official Google Mobile Blog.
