Skybox Offers a Different View of Windows Mobile

imageThe standard interface of Windows Mobile has its fans, but it’s also made enough people  unhappy to keep a whole bunch of developers in business. Off the top of my head, there’s Spb Mobile Shell, Spb Pocket Plus, SBSH iLauncher, Wisbar Advance, GoodWin, PointUI, all the assorted iPhone knock-offs, HTC TouchFlo/TouchFlo 3D, and the list goes on. Well, today it’s gotten longer by one.

Teksoft has just announced the release of Skybox, a new finger-friendly shell that promises to make the Pocket PC interface easier, faster, and cooler. It gets its name from a design that looks kind of like my kitchen window, a 3×3 rectangular grid with icons for various functions. (Okay, my kitchen window doesn’t have icons, but you get the idea.) It’s highly customizable, from cosmetics to registry hacks, and promises advanced graphics and animations.

Lots of screenshots and a 16-day free trial are available here.
