Unboxing Pictures for the Palm Centro
I’ve pulled out my pictures exhaustively cataloging the exterior of the Centro into this separate article so the main review can focus on the user experience… and so I’ll inflict my lack of talent as a photographer on as few people as possible. Enjoy!
Unboxing
The AT&T Centro comes in an orange box. Opening it up, we’re greeted by a Quick Start Guide.
The box also includes a software CD, charging and HotSync cables (yes, they’re separate), more documentation, a battery, and of course the star of the show.
As far as size comparisons go, the Centro is thicker than either a Dell Axim or a dollar bill, but it’s shorter than both.
On the front, the Centro has a 2.2" touchscreen, call and end buttons, four application launcher buttons, and a directional ring surrounding a big center button with the Palm logo. Below the band of buttons is quite possibly the world’s tiniest QWERTY keyboard.
Continuing the tour of the exterior, the Centro’s right side sports an IR port and the concealed microSD slot, which is only accessible with the battery door off. On the left are volume up and down buttons and an extra customizable key.
The bottom houses connectors for charging and syncing along with a headphone jack. On top, Palm proves the little things count by adding a hardware slider to mute the phone. Finally, here is a phone where muting is quick and can be done just by feel! Also visible from the top is the end of the glorified plastic toothpick they call a stylus, which was apparently included solely out of a sense of obligation.
The camera and speaker are the most obvious features on the back, but most of the space is covered by the battery door. Removing the door reveals the battery and SIM card, and it frees the microSD slot on the side to open.
Check out the review for the rest of the lowdown!
