Touch Browser for Pocket PC, New Combatant!

Posted by: Peter on Apr 15 2008 - 2,679 views

The release of the Touch Browser from Makayama, is quite surprising considering the only title in their catalogue that I’d heard of before was "easy wifi radar". So seeing a new finger friendly, everyone seems to mention the iPhone at this point so I won’t. What seems like ages ago now I wrote about the Netfront Browser, and it actually became my preferred browser for exactly the reasons Makayama are displaying in the video below. Netfront pans and scrolls with the same alacrity. Although it’s not as finger friendly as the Touch Browser seems to be. I haven’t had a chance to test it yet, but have a look at the video and see what you think.

I’ll be downloading this to have a look, will you?

Sadly, there’s no trial for this. You have to buy the full version to try it out.

Well their DVD app was and is superior, so if this is up to their usual excellent deployment, I’ll bet it’s a winner. HOWEVER, yes, who in their right mind, with all the sudden alternatives popping up these days, is going to pay money up front to find out if they like it or if it will even work on your particular device? They have trials for all their other apps, hopefully this is an oversight and they will offer one.

I have to agree with both of you guys. There are a number of good choices around for alternative browers (and more coming) - this won’t help Makayama at all, and I expect they’ll change this soon …

I just bought it for a goof. What a piece of garbage. First of all, you can’t even set your own homepage, no matter what is in the homepage setting, it goes to MSN.com. Second, it’s slow as crap on the Touch Cruise. Waste of money.

It probably should have been a beta, it’s based on IE so it’s not really new. It’s like a plug-in. It’s a great idea but far from the ultimate browser
