2007 Engadget Awards – Winners Announced

Engadget has announced the winners of their 2007 Engadget Awards, which cover a broad range of gadgets and consumer electronics – from Cellphone of the Year to HDTV, Robot and Wireless Device or Technology of the Year. There are also two awards in each category – a Readers’ Choice and and Editors’ Choice.
The Apple Fanboys accusations are already in full swing for this one, as quite a few Apple products cleaned up in both the Readers’ Choice and Editors’ Choice categories – inlcuding the iPod Touch, a couple of Mac computers, and the iPhone scooping both the Gadget of the Year and the Most Anticipated Gadget of 2008, for the 3G version (in both cases, it got the readers and editors award).
Other notable award winners included:
- The Amazon Kindle for Handheld of the Year (Editors) – this one surprised me as I thought its reception had been distinctly lukewarm
- The Ugobe Pleo – took both Readers and Editors awards for Robot of the Year
- Microsoft Xbox 360 Elite – again swept both awards for Game Console of the Year
