Contest: Help Spb Software House Celebrate Mobile Shell 2.0 and Win A Free Gift!
Most of you will probably agree that the biggest news we have seen this week has come from Spb, and their release or Mobile Shell 2 (which I reviewed, here). Mobile Shell 2 is the much anticipated update to one of the most highly decorated Windows Mobile programs ever. With new features, such as gesture control, animation, the Expanded Now Screen, and more, this is the must have program for every Windows Mobile user.
Now, we all know that it is customary, when someone celebrates a birthday to bring some gifts. And I see that none of you have brought any. Don’t worry though, Spb brought a few for you. In fact, they brought three prizes:
- $30 gift certificate to the Spb store
- $50 gift certificate to the Spb store
- $100 gift certificate to the Spb store, or $100 gift certificate to Amazon.com.
To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post. For a second entry, download the trial of Mobile Shell 2 and tell us about your favorite feature of the program. Sounds easy enough. Better hurry, though. We will be pulling names out of the hat on March 12 at 6:00 PM, EST.

I’m looking forward to trying out the new dialer feature – that’s the one thing that really needed improvement from the previous version!

1. Love to win!!!!!
2. I like the forecast option when you select the weather icon.
The only thing that I would change is give the user the ability to choose the weather service easier. I know if you have their version of a weather program, you can write a script, but I’m not a programmer. I don’t even play one on television….

Love this software.
Only thing missing on my ppc is weather information. My city is not listed and spb weather is does not provide current weather conditions.

Cool to see Spb with a contest.
At the moment, the plugin integration in tabs is different that in PocketBreeze, which buttons are too small for thumb navigation. So being able to have plugins in tabs which are thumb-accessible is what’s attractive in the Spb products!

Software looks good! Love “phone profile”. Would be good to improve notification by allowing users to choose color of LED blinking when there’s a notification (voicemail, miss calls, etc).

I really like the lower RAM usage in MobileShell 2! For a Mogul user, the lower RAM is really key.

As a brand new Sprint Mogul user and newbie to the Windows mobile platform I REALLY like the userface enhancements in MobileShell 2 –especially the Now screen and the photo dialing. Didn’t find the weather function very intuitive though. Still in the trial period but likely will become a repeat offender (customer) at Spb Software!!!

I tried the first version, but was more limiting than helpful (post 1)

Installed the new version couple of days ago, it might be a keeper, my favorite feature is the return to the now screen with power-on.

I really like the easy-to-find missed calls and new message indicators at the top. Straight to the point!

I’ve already upgraded to Mobile Shell 2. It works great. I like the gestures and the animation.
Now, for all those that use Wisbar Advance 3, the gestures do work. Tap and hold the start button, then swipe down. The popup selector will then show. Hope this helps

The whole idea of using finger friendly buttons and screens on power on is very nice! Only wish the rest of WM6 could have the same concept.
Gestures and small footprint apart, the best new feature is a simple one: the Speed Dial Panel with the Contact Dialog, where you can dial a frequently used contact and choose among his/her different phone numbers.

Great contest and software to win.
I love the one touch Menu Panel in Mobile Shell 2 that allows me to easily launch my favorite apps and games with just a tap of the screen.

The “now” screen was my favourite “at a glance” feature in the prior version. The updated one, especially being finger friendly, is magic stuff.

The speed dial panel is a real timesaver and the weather options are helpful as well. Thank you for the chance to win!

I really like the software.. I had switched to Point UI because it was free and for some reason I kept on having problems with the first version of the shell. This new one looks awesome, might buy it this time around instead of resetting my device every 30 days.. it is that good. Oh yea… send me some free l00t, that is always appreciated.

I absolutely LOVE this application. I really like the great combination of eye-candy and functionality. The Now screen with the weather report is just awesome. I use the SPB-menu screen constantly now, as it is the most comfortable way to launch programs.
Thanks for a great application!

Please count me in…
I was using the Mobile Shell 1.5 and am very tempted to upgrade to the new one after running the trial copy. Great gains in productivity with the excellent finger friendly interface, speed dial panel and what more with a reduced memory footprint. I wonder what ver 3.0 will be like.

Wouldn’t wanna miss out on this one.
I certainly love the new phone profile in the Now screen that allows me to set my profile upon waking up the phone. This is sorely missing in Ver 1.5. A small but very useful feature. Of course the rest of the stuff rocks as well !!! Hope to win this certainly. Thanks JAMM and SPB Software House.

I have used SPB products for a long time, and I must say this new version of Mobile Shell takes the Windows Mobile experience to a new level. This is what Microsoft should have done. Of course, SPB updated the look of the launcher and Now screen from previous versions, and there is a cool new photo dialer… BUT it’s the new navigational gestures that really set this program apart. Smart developers are trying to make their programs more “fat finger friendly” and SPB has hit a home run with their smart gestures. The predictive smart gestures allow the user to navigate quickly without having to wait for visual confirmation from their device. It’s like the application is one step ahead of you. The combination of all of these features in such a small footprint make this a great program for novice and power users.

Version 2 is definitely a big improvement on 1.5 (which was already pretty darn good!). My favourite new feature is the way the Now screen, Launcher screen and Contacts screen are all integrated together, enabling control of all major functions within a couple of finger taps. I find now that I can do 90% of what I need without taking out the stylus, and that is really convenient and time-saving. I bought the new version within half an hour of installing it.
I also like the way that it integrates with other SPB products, to give extra features over the basic Mobile Shell functionality, if required. I am currently trialling Phone Suite, which gives a greater range of phone profiles – I wanted a profile with a quiet ring and no notification of messages for use at night when I am on call, and it does this very well. But this presents a problem – the need to spend more money on SPB products. It would be good to win a contest where the prize was a load of money to spend with SPB…

Spb has some great products! I would love to win!!
Mobile Shell Version 2.0′s new Now screen is great. I love the four buttons at the bottom. I do wish that the program could be set so that it was the default screen, ie so that the program did not close after you launched a program but rather, when you closed your program, returned to the Now screen rather than Today. I also wish they had added support for FlexMail on the Now screen. That being said, it is still a HUGE improvement over WinMo and makes my phone so useable. And my limited RAM Mogul doesn’t lock up with 2.0 like it did with 1.5. Yea, Spb! Pick me!
