SPB’s bringing out the big guns: SPB Mobile Shell 2 released!

imageLadies and Gentlemen, Mobile Shell 2 is fresh out of the oven, and boy does it smell (look) good! This was one of the releases I was looking most forward to this year, so I’m very happy that it’s finally out.

Among the new features are:

  • All functionality in one tabbed window
  • Full screen dialogs for Weather and Time
  • Animated transitions (look amazing)
  • Navigation with gestures
  • Quick panel selection with taskbar gestures

Believe it or not, the program has actually gotten faster than before and uses less RAM. The animations and especially the gestures are very, very well done. The features a lot more useful now that they’re so easy to access. I really loved the Now Screen and huge SPB Menu from version 1.5, but bugs that hung my TyTN kept me from using it. So far this version looks and functions at a level far superior to that of the last.

The program costs $29.95 and $14.95 to upgrade.

A huge kudos to SPB –  I’m off to play!

This looks fantastic!

The animation is fast and really impressive.

I can’t figure out, however, if it will let you set something other than the inbuilt calendar as the default PIM.

There is a Spb Menu plugin which will allow MS to recognize your other PIM (i.e., AgendaOne or PocketInformant), and add it to the menu choices. This add-in is free and should be findable on Spbclub.com. (I’d post the link but I don’t have a chance to dig it up. Sorry.)
