These days, it seems everyone has a new laptop.  Whether it is the ultra-slim MacBook Air, the desktop replacement Toshiba Qosmio, or something in between, one thing is certain, that thing is not going to be staying in one place.  Unlike computers of old, today’s laptops are designed to be on the move.  Mere portability is giving way to true mobile computing, and you, my friend, are on the cutting edge of that revolution.

OK, so the next question is how are you going to carry that thing?  I mean, come on, that is a $2000 piece of equipment, you can’t just tie it to a strap on the end of a string and drag it along behind you like school children used to do.  No, you need something with padding and protection.  Ah, I see you have found one of those briefcase bags.  Very nice, but don’t you think it is a bit bulky?  I mean, come on, that was a great bag for your 1990′s era Winbook, but today’s laptops demand to be carried in a manner that is much more reflective of their mobility.  For that, you will want a laptop sleeve.

What’s that?  You have never considered a sleeve?  No idea where to start looking?  Well, good thing Clinton Fitch has you …ahem…covered.  In his latest roundup, Clinton take a look at three laptop sleeves from Proporta, Skooba Designs, and Vaja.  In the end, Clinton determines that all three are fantastic sleeves from well reputed companies, though he does admit that this roundup merely scratches the surface of the dozens of options available.  Check out Clinton’s full overview of the three fantastic sleeves, and then come back and tell us how you prefer to carry your laptop.  Personally, I like a backpack style bag, as it allows me to easily carry all of gear and other paraphernalia on the train.  What is your preference?  Let us know how you like to protect your hi-tech investments.
