Oh Stage6, we had some good times, you and I (well, mostly just me — since you’re inanimate). After February 28 we won’t even get signs like this anymore…

This is because Stage6 is shutting down after the end of this month, so watch and download while ya can! "Ripper", a Stage6 user and DivX employee has this to say on the front page of the site:

Well, the short answer is  
> that the continued operation of Stage6 is a very expensive  
> enterprise that requires an enormous amount of attention and  
> resources that we are not in a position to continue to provide.

Bleargh! It’s really too bad that this is the case, as I really enjoyed having the high quality alternative to YouTube. I mean YouTube’s great and all — but as grainy as super healthy bread in comparison to the smooth white bread that was DivX videos on Stage6 (what a weird analogy). Where am I to go now for super high quality free video power?

Sigh.
