New Kids on the Block, iZen Solutions.
When an email came to us through the JAMM contact form, (Contact Us link at the top of the page) from iZen Solutions, informing us about a new today plug-in they had developed, on investigation I found this was their first software release. Curious, I used the contact form at their website to get some background on the company. I’ll give you a little background on the company, and then we’ll have a little look at iZen Solutions QuickAccess Today (QAT).
As I mentioned I used the contact us link at their website, and received a prompt response from Kelvin Foo, at iZen, happy to oblige, I think they had to actually write this stuff on the spot, as no one had requested information like this from them before, that’s how new this company is in the Mobile Apps world. What did Kelvin send me:
Overview
iZen Solutions was founded in Malaysia in the year 2007. iZen Solutions started off by providing customized enterprise solutions to local market in Malaysia. After almost a year of providing customized solutions, iZen Solutions sees potential in the mobile software industry and tries to disembark into it. In February 2008, iZen Solutions released their very first windows mobile software, iZen QuickAccess Today, to enter into the mobile software industry. iZen QuickAccess Today is a today screen plug-in which is aimed at users who want ways to get organized with their schedules and tasks without compromising their favourite plug-ins.
Mission Statement
We are a customer-oriented company and strive to provide excellence in service and support. We concentrate on making the best software available in the mobile market while developing software in customers’ perspectives to provide solutions that meets our customers’ needs.
Vision
We strive to help make peoples’ life easier and simpler with our user friendly software.
So we see the formation of a new mobile application developer, and we want to look at QuickAccess Today, but what exactly does it do. Like many today screen plug-ins, QAT intends to place information that the user deems vital, in the most accessible place possible. In this case Calendar, Tasks and Email, with date and time and some system stats. Also , if you have a converged device, voice mail and call info. It’s clean and slick, and adapts to whatever today theme your using, (it’s basically transparent, so that your selected colour scheme, flavours the look of the plug-in).
I think these guys are headed in the right direction with their development ethos. Since I started looking at this and contacted Kelvin, I’ve registered on their forum and have had results, in that the team at iZen have produced a couple of point updates in the last two weeks. I actually think I may have been one of, if not the first, person not from iZen to register, and I tell you they are listening. Initially, iZen intended QAT to inform you of
* Time remaining to your next appointment within 3 weeks (highlighted on an
ongoing appointment)
* Total task to be accomplished or start within 3 weeks
* Preview window for Appointments & Task so that you know what appointment
or task to be done, when and how long.
* Current date & time
* PDA battery, memory, internal storage, storage card status.
* Unread emails, sms/mms
* Number of missed call
Be it far from the perfect today plug-in at the moment, I wouldn’t just say it’s not worth a look, and contributing in the iZen forums, cause you might get what you ask for!. You can download a trial at iZen Solutions to have a look for yourselves, and contribute and shape this today app at their forum.
