Review- OtterBox Armor Series Case For iPod Classic
A few months ago I had the opportunity to review the Otterbox Defender Series Case for iPhone. It is an impressive case that adds a high degree of protection to the iPhone. Otterbox has now taken their commitment to protecting our precious devices to the next level with their new Armor Series Cases for iPhone and iPod.
<br

The Armor Series cases provide even more protection from dust, dirt, drops and scratches than the Defender Series. In addition, they are waterproof and snowproof. (To read my review of the iPhone case visit our "sister" site JustAnotheriPhoneBlog.) How well does it protect the iPod? With what other case could you do this—

or this

The Armor Series case is an incredble way to provide protection to the sturdy yet, delicate, iPod. It is 5.7"x3"x1" and weighs a hefty 4.0oz.

With that heft, however, comes an unmatched degree of protection. The case is hard clear plastic. The iPod is easily slipped into and removed from the case

and the clip on the bottom securely locks it inside.
The truly amazing thing about the case is not the level of protection it provides, as much as the fact that NEARLY ALL OF THE CONTROLS REMAIN 100% ACCESSIBLE when the iPod is in it. That’s right, with the exception of the "hold" button and charger/sync port the iPod is fully protected but completely usable. I watched a bit of one of my favorite movies and the amount of distortion caused by the additional layer of protective plastic over the screen was of little issue.

Unlike the model for the iPhone, the Armor Series iPod case comes with a sturdy removable clip.

The belt clip adds the benefit of being able to mount the iPod on the windshield (or window since my car is currently buried under a foot of snow) using the optional suction mount.

All in all, this a great case if you want to provide the maximum degree of protection for your iPod.
If you need ultimate protection for your iPod… this is it.
Pros
-The highest degree of protection imaginable including submersion in up to 3 feet of water for 30 minutes
-Well conceived and constructed
-Ability to access nearly all functions with ease
Cons
-Adds a good deal of size and weight
-Not inexpensive
-No ability to sync while in the case
The OtterBox Armor Series for iPod Classic fits the 80GB and 160GB iPod and is available now directly from OtterBox or other retailers for $49.95.
The Suction Mount costs 39.95 and up.
The Armor Series is also available for the iPod Nano, iPod Touch and iPhone. Prices vary.
