Sony Takes Noise Cancellation Headphones To The Next Level

Sony is making some noise with their new MDR-NC500D headphones- the world’s first digital noise canceling headphones.

The MCR-NC500Ds use a unique digital noise canceling software engine to accurately reduce up to 99 percent of ambient noise at 160HZ, the peak frequency of a jet engine. Featuring thick foam ear pieces to increase comfort and reduce pressure on the ears, these new headphones weigh in at just six ounces. An internal lithium-ion battery powered headphones operate for up to 16 hours on a single charge. Alternately, they can be powered by two AA batteries in an external battery box.
