Pocket Internet Explorer is about as much fun as a wet fart in your space suit.
So that got your attention didn’t it! We’ve all had our gripes with Windows Mobile over the years, no matter what version we have used. From the earliest versions until now, there have been a long list of user desired fixes, things that users would like to see Microsoft pay a bit more attention too! At the moment, seeing the flurry of browser development, now that the war has started, it’s probably worth considering the other shortcomings of the Windows Mobile OS. We’ve had some great discussion based around a couple of previous of posts here. Doug posted
Windows Mobile Is Broken. We Offer Nine Features Which Could Revitalize The Platform. and Thomas (Ragart) posted Rumour: Windows Mobile 6.1 leaked review looks…under-whelming.
Both of these posts elicited some spirited comments, that well, came to the defence of WM OS’s, but I’d have to agree that there’s plenty of users out there that are finding the haves and the have not’s of the Windows Mobile platform, even up to it’s latest iteration, WinMo 6. A post I saw today really put it into lay mans terms, but I agreed whole heartedly with the posters comments!
ScottC over at TravelTechTalk posted this,
The top 10 things that are wrong with Windows Mobile
It’s like communism took over the development department.
The Windows Mobile Connection manager is a t*rd. It’s purposely made to p**s you off.
It’s a funny and honest post about WinMo OS and some of it’s missing bits, that are frustrating. As my friend RabbiDan (DanC) would say, ” Missing Bits, ever heard of Ritual Circumcision Dude?”.

LOL! Very true.. That was impressive.
Good read… Im hoping though that Microsoft has figured out by now most of these shortcomings. Most of which really dont address the “innovation” people want to see so quickly…
Didn’t see the point in all of his suggestions though.
1. Program Manager. do you really want Lists on a Stylus based OS? or worse yet to make it easy with a finger? iPhone’s front Launcher screen is as locked down as this is? Its not File Explorer? Ok, a few settings wont be horrible.. but if people want to model it after
the iPhone (refine and integrate) than you need to start taking away options, not giving more on things like this…
5. Umm.. Thats what a keyboard looks like? Were they supposed to re-arrange the keys since the year 2000 just so it looks different. It is a stylus based keyboard, and you can switch between different SIP panels? I dont understand what he thinks he wants?? None of the experimental options Ive seen have panned out to be any better..
9. Yes, I agree it should look better, especially now for a consumer based market. But its the calculator application, just as long as it does Math and you can finger it is it really a showstopper… It was designed that way, cuz its super light. I would rather have a 50K calculator taking up less space than a 1MB+ one with rendered graphics… Hopefully they stay on the lower end of this….
