Opera Mobile 9.5 Unleashed! Sort of. Almost.
This minute’s news comes to us from the Opera website. The highly anticipated Opera Mobile 9.5 (current version is 8.65) is going to be previewed next week at the Mobile World Congress 2008 (remember my acronym!).
With this new version comes improvements such as:
- Faster loading and processing of pages
- More intuitive interface — goes fullscreen upon loading!
- Flash support
- Widget support
- Dynamic zoom — double tap articles to read them, double tap to zoom out
It was a little confusing at first, since their news page makes it seem like the browser is available now. Sadly, we’ll still have to wait a bit for the public beta. But this is still incredibly exciting. I’ve been waiting for a good, fast HTML capable browser for a long time now. Netfront, Opera Mobile, and Opera Mini have been the only big competition to IE on the WM platform for quite a while now. If I weren’t already holding my breath due to Mobile Shell’s release I’d be tempted to giggle in glee.
But enough talk, check out this video to see the browser in action!
